sdfsgcgbdf(Stafford Springs, CT)—Ryan Preece of Berlin, CT left Stafford Speedway this past Friday night with the largest winner’s purse in the history of the SK Modified® division with his victory in the 2nd Annual NAPA Auto Parts SK 5k. Preece’s win entitled him to a winner’s share of $12,875 from the over $37,000 in total posted awards.

Preece and his #6 East-West Marine had to overcome a leaky radiator that relegated them to the tail end of the field with 75 laps left in the 100-lap race and he navigated his way back to the front on lap-87 and took the lead for good on lap-90.

Preece’s victory allowed him to close the gap to Rowan Pennink down to 8 points. Keith Rocco is currently third in the standings, 20 points behind Pennink.

Justin Bonsignore originally finished second behind Preece, but he was penalized back to 9th position following post-race inspection where his car did not meet the minimum weight requirement. Bonsignore’s penalty moved Keith Rocco up to second, with Ronnie Williams, Jeff Malave and Ted Christopher rounding out the top-5.

Frank Ruocco led the most laps with 59 and ended up finishing sixth. Jeremy Sorel, Eric Berndt, Bonsignore, and Joey Cipriano rounded out the top-10.

Stafford’s SK Modifieds® return to action this Friday night, July 17th with Girls Night Out and the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund Track Walk.
