Valenti Modified Racing SeriesNew London-Waterford Next For VMRS Saturday
Pitkat Still Point Leader / Savary Penalized

Canaan, NH. – The Valenti Modified Racing Series heads to Waterford, Connecticut, Saturday, August 8, to the famed New London-Waterford Speedbowl for the 8th annual ‘Wings and Wheels’ event, a program with a heavy emphasis on open-wheel racing.

Series founder Jack Bateman announced Thursday a 50-point deduction penalty against driver Richard Savary, of Canton, MA, for his part in a last lap crash at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway (ME) last Saturday. Savary has been placed on probation for the balance of the season.

Woody Pitkat, of Stafford Springs, CT, maintains a 24-point lead over Richmond, New Hampshire’s Todd Patnode heading to ‘The Bowl.’ Todd Szegedy, of Ridgefield, CT, is a close third to Patnode (254-248) with Chris Pasteryak, of Jewett, City, CT, fourth (237) and Nashua, New Hampshire’s NormanWrenn, (212) fifth. All top-five point men are competing at Waterford.

Defending race winner Ted Christopher, of Plainville, CT, has indicated he plans to compete in Saturday’s race. Christopher ended a two-year drought last August.

Pasteryak is a two-time winner at his home track and would like nothing more than to pick up his second win of the season at New London-Waterford.

Rowan Pennink,of Huntingdon Valley, PA, another former Bowl winner, returns to the VMRS driving for veteran car owner Gary Casella. Pennink missed a few events due to prior commitments.

The annual Open-Wheel event will also feature, SK Modifieds, NEMA Lites, SK Light Modifieds, Pro-4 Modified’s NEMA Midgets, ISMA Supermodifieds, and the VMRS for a 100-lap feature race.

Qualifying races start at 5:00 PM with features races beginning at 7:00 PM.
