Scarborough, Maine — DJ Shaw of Center Conway, New Hampshire drove from third position to first on a restart with four laps remaining in Saturday’s Southern Maine Chrysler Jeep Dodge 150 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway to nail down his first Pro All Stars Series Super Late Model win of the season.

Shaw, the 2014 PASS North Super Late Model champion, watched Doiron blast on by earlier in the race after the Berwick, Maine driver, and eventual runner-up, charged from his 14th starting position into a lead threatened only by hometown racer Garrett Hall – the opening day PASS Super Late Model winner at Connecticut’s Thompson Speedway until the final pair of restarts took place, with six and four laps remaining, respectively.

Shaw had been a healthy distance behind Doiron aboard his Dale Shaw Race Cars / HK Powersports 60, but the once-dominant JBJ Machine 73 didn’t have the handles on cold tires.  That opened the door for Shaw, who stepped through and into victory lane.

Doiron had mixed emotions, claiming runner-up honors after dominating the second half of the race.  Hall’s third-place finish was his second PASS podium appearance in three races contested thus far in the 2016 campaign.

Former Beech Ridge Motor Speedway NASCAR track champion Dave Farrington., Jr., of Jay, led several laps and battled among the contenders all day, finishing fourth.  Reigning PASS North Super Late Model champion Mike Rowe of Turner earned another improbable top-five finish after starting the race 23rd position.

Trevor Sanborn of East Parsonsfield, six-time series champion Johnny Clark of Farmingdale; Bobby Timmons of Windham; four-time champ Ben Rowe of Turner and Windham’s Brandon Barker rounded out the top ten.

Mike Hopkins of Hermon, Sanborn and Farrington won heat races.  Ben Rowe aced the last-chance qualifier.   Hopkins tuned in the quickest lap of the race, leading the early circuits in the main event before spinning in fluids dropped by a rival’s racecar.

Ben Tinker of New Gloucester nailed down his first victory in the 40-lap feature race for PASS Mods.  Tinker, who was championship runner-up at the second-tier Sport Series level at Beech Ridge last season, decided to go touring this year, and was the class of the field on the Southern Maine Chrysler Jeep Dodge undercard.

Tinker started seventh in the main event and maintained a comfortable advantage once in front of the field, outrunning 11th-place starter Ryan Robbins of Dixfield, the 2015 champion of the class at Oxford Plains Speedway.

Multi-time PASS Mod champ Andy Shaw wheeled the Sumner Sessions 0 to a third-place finish, with early race leader Mike Carignan of Lebanon and Shapleigh’s Dana Reed rounding out the top five.  Ricci and Tinker won the 10-lap heat races for PASS Mods.
