Barre, VT – Kyle Pembroke of Montpelier claimed the third Triple Crown of the season in three regular-season events on Harvest Equipment Night on Sunday afternoon, sweeping his heat race, the semifeature, and the 50-lap Thunder Road Late Models feature.

Pembroke survived a collision with Eric Chase of Milton on his way to the victory. The two cars collided on the backstretch after the third caution flag of the race was thrown on lap 40. Since the wreck didn’t cause the yellow flag, Pembroke was allowed to reclaim his second-place position in the field. He moved past Darrell Morin of Westford on the ensuing restart and stayed in front for the rest of the event.

Rounding out the top ten were Nick Sweet of Barre, Morin, Phil Scott of Middlesex, Eric Badore of Milton, Jason Corliss of Barre, John Donahue of Graniteville, Shawn Fleury of Middlesex, and Josh Masterson of Charlotte. Badore and Sweet also claimed Maplewood Stores Triple Crowns in the first two regular-season Late Model events at Thunder Road.

In the Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen feature, Bobby Therrien of Hinesburg was an outstanding substitute. Filling in behind the wheel for regular driver Cameron Ouellette of Barre in #90, Therrien won the opening 18-lap segment, then finished fifth in the second 18-lapper to defeat runnerup Brendan Moodie of Wolcott by three points in the combined standings. Stephen Donahue of  Graniteville was third, Tommy Smith of Williamstown took fourth, and Jason Woddard of Waterbury Center came home in fifth.

Alan Maynard of Fairfax posted a hard-fought victory in the Allen Lumber Street Stocks. Maynard had electrical problems that resulted in a fire in his car during his heat, and had to start at the rear of the field in the 25-lap feature. Maynard finished third on the track, but inherited first when Gary Mullen of Tunbridge (illegal rear springs) and Jamie Davis of Wolcott (illegal shock) failed their post-race technical inspections.

Hardwick drivers Jaden Perry and Bunker Hodgdon lll, finished second and third, respectively. Kevin Streeter of Waitsfield, Thomas Merchant of Eden Mills, Reilly Lanphear of Duxbury, Matthew Smith of Essex Jct., Cooper Bouchard of Hinesburg, Jennifer Getty of Cambridge, and Brandon Lanphear of Morrisville rounded out the top ten.

Racing action returns to Thunder Road on Thursday, June 30 for Community College of Vermont night. The event features a full card of action for the Thunder Road Late Models, Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen, and Allen Lumber Street Stocks. Post time is 7:00 p.m. Admission is $12 for adults, $3 for kids ages 6-12, and $25 for a family of four (2 adults, 2 kids).
