Nick Dombrowski gave his Dad a nice present on Father’s day by winning his first ever Thunder light feature event. Dombrowski led the caution-free event from the drop of the green til the checkers fell.
Andrew Morin had won the previous 3 Thunder Light features but fell behind early and couldn’t make up the ground he lost and finished second. Max Chaput finished third.
Allan Mann made his trek up to Hudson from Cape Cod worth it as he pulled down his first ever New England V-6 Modified feature win. It wasn’t easy for Mann as he had Brian Vincent and Bruce Harrison freight-training right behind him just waiting for him to slip. Mann was up to the task and crossed the finish line less than a car length ahead of Vincent who finished second and Harrison in third.
Billy Osboune survived an early race skirmish with Tom Lord and the fourth turn tire barrier to win his first Roadrunner feature this season. Jef James finished a strong second but didn’t have enough to catch Osbourne’s VW. Johnny Reefer was third followed by Hollywood Helliwell, Todd Henshaw, Todd Lombardi, Tom Lord, Scott Dunklee, Jake Joslin and Bob Fields.
John Morin Jr. won the Rookie stock feature. Morin Jr. while running second dived under leader Jerry Lepage on the front straight to make the pass going into turn one. Bill Helliwell was making a move under Morin Jr. at the same time and made it three wide until Helliwell ran out of room and had to back off. Lepage held on for second and Helliwell third. Scotty Duval and Chad Wendell rounded out the top five.
Scotty Duval made a perfect bump and run on Buddy Wilkins to win the Flagpole Race. Duval punted Wilkins on the last lap around the “flagpole” and made it past Wilkins to the delight of the crowd. Duval also won the Spectator Race. Tim Galakas won the Spectator Drags.
On June 24th it’s the Outlaw Sportsman, plus Rookies, Roadrunners, Thunder Lights, Spectator Race, Spectator Drags and Flagpole Race. Gates open at 4:00pm EDT and the first race goes green at 6:03pm EDT. Please visit www.hudsonspeedway.info for more information.
