Presented by AMSOIL and Woody’s Traction

CHESHIRE, Conn. (Jan. 18, 2013) – Within the vast Empire State of New York, one town stands above the rest as a place to relax and take in the view. At the south end of beautiful Lake George is its namesake village, known as a four-season haven among those who love the outdoors.

This popular destination for winter sports enthusiasts is about to witness an invasion, as teams and officials at East Coast Snocross (ECS) get set for Round 3 on the eight-race 2012-2013 schedule on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 26-27, in beautiful Lake George, New York. The track is being built at the intersection of Beach Road and West Brook Road.

Spectator gates open at 10:30 a.m. each day, with amateur qualifying rounds already in progress. Pro racing begins at 12:30 p.m. both days with Pro finals set for 3 p.m. Admission is $12 per day for adults, $5 for children ages 8-12, age 7 and under admitted free with a paying adult. Pit passes valid through the weekend will be available for an extra $10.

Each day will feature qualifying rounds and finals for riders in five major divisions; Pro, Pro Lite, Sport, Junior and Women. There is also a Trail class (700cc max.) for those looking to give snocross a try in an affordable manner.

This exciting weekend of championship snocross competition is proudly presented by King Neptune’s Pub and Extreme Snowmobile Rentals of Lake George. King Neptune’s is known for live music and good times; while Extreme Snowmobile Rentals is part of Extreme Off-Road Sports, known among the snowmobile crowd for their guided tours up scenic Prospect Mountain.

Leading the charge into Lake George is Pro rider and New York native Corin Todd. The young athlete from Otego is having a career-best season, winning two finals and the first round of qualifying in the 2013 Triple Crown Series. Todd’s teammate at the Bailey/Hulten Polaris squad is none other than Danny Poirier, a multi-time champion from St. Theodore, Quebec. Poirier has already won this season and will be a threat to win again in Lake George.

Another young athlete making his mark in snocross this winter is Vermont native Lincoln Lemieux. The third-generation racer from St. Johnsbury won last Sunday in Plattsburgh, NY, with a dominant performance. Keep an eye on the Lemieux Racing Ski-doo next weekend in Lake George.

Riders to watch in the Pro Lite division include Massachusetts natives Montana Jess and Mike Pilotte. Jess, of Westminster, notched his first career victory as a red-hot rookie last Saturday in Plattsburgh. Pilotte, of Fall River, swept the finals in Round 1 last month at Vermont’s Burke Mountain. He also won Round 1 of Triple Crown qualifying for Pro Lite riders last weekend.
Other riders to watch in Pro Lite include Jesse James Bonaduce, Andrew Bailey and Eddie Bandel. Bonaduce hails from Somerville, NJ, while Bailey (Malone) and “Big Air” Bandel (Mohawk) are both New York natives.

Riders to watch in the Sport classes include Connor Roscoe, Hunter Patenaude and Tyler Brancifort. Roscoe, of Cheshire, Conn., is hot off a sweep in Sport Super Stock and Sport 600 last weekend. Patenaude, of Hartland, VT, won the Super Stock final last Saturday and is always a threat to land on the podium, as is Brancifort.

East Coast Snocross, presented by AMSOIL and Woody’s Traction, is the eastern affiliate of International Series of Champions (ISOC), the national sanctioning body for snocross. ECS strives to maintain a regional circuit intended to keep grass-roots snocross racing healthy in this part of the Snowbelt while also cultivating new talent for tomorrow’s factory-backed Pro teams.
