WINCHESTER, NH – Tyler Janovsky and Michael McGoldrick III each did it for the first time ever Saturday, August 3, at Monadnock Speedway, while Barry Gray added to his long list of conquests at the high-banked speedplant.
Gray, McGoldrick, and Janovsky each took a victory lap at the fast quarter-mile, as did Sportsman Modified feature winner Tyler Jarvenpaa, Super Stock victor Dave Striebel, and Mini Stock strongman Chris McTaggart.

The Granite State Pro Stock Series 100-lapper was Mike Parks’ to lose. Starting on the pole the veteran wheelsman held off Larry Gelinas and Barry Gray for 78 laps, until a momentary bobble on a restart allowed Gray to speed by and then run out the race from the point.

Gray took second from Gelinas on lap 30 and the potent trio then played high-speed bumper tag until the third of three late-70s cautions set up the only lead change of the event. With Gray adding to his long list of Monadnock feature wins, Parks was rock solid as he earned the runner-up finish with Gelinas glued to his bumper as the top three took the checkers under a blanket.

Former Monadnock champion Russ Hersey – wheeling the familiar Maynard brothers’ 42 – was strong in fourth, with Jake Vanada rounding out the top five.

The Sportsman Modified feature was run at breakneck speed. Tyler Jarvenpaa grabbed the lead from Joey Kendall on lap two and then never looked back as he rocketed to his second feature win of the season in the caution-free event.

Keith Carzello dropped Kendall back to third on lap three, but had to be content to chase Jarvenpaa the rest of the way, finishing his impressive run in second, six carlengths behind the winner. Adam Norton powered into third on lap 14 but, like Carzello, could advance no further in the high-speed dash. With Norton coming home third, Dan Stebbins and Kendall completed the night’s top five.

Super Stock ace Dave Striebel hadn’t won a feature event in two seasons. He’d scored bucketfuls of top-three finishes, but the winner’s circle had somehow eluded him until Saturday.

Leading all the way, Striebel opened up huge leads early in the race, only to have a lap-17 caution bring Eddie Brehio III and Bill Johnston to his bumper after Tyler Lescord’s spin moved the potent pair to second and third for the restart.

Undaunted by his new challengers, Striebel again darted off to lead the points leader, Brehio, and Johnston under the checkers. Josh Wood was fourth on the night Followed by Corey Casagrande.

Eric Pomasko led the early laps of the Mini Stock feature, giving way to Julia Raymond on lap three, who, in turn, surrendered the point to Joe Rogers two laps later. Chris McTaggart, meanwhile, was rocketing to the front.
McTaggart pulled up on Rogers’ bumper on lap eight, completed the pass for the lead five laps later, and then lead Mike Stebbins and Beth Adams under the checkers in a top-three nose-to-tail finish.

Kimmy Rivet, who ran as high as second, finished her impressive run in fourth, with Rogers steady all night, coming home fifth.

Michael McGoldrick Jr. became the second first-time Young Guns winner in as many weeks, topping the youth division feature by leading every lap. Sonja Carey was glued to his bumper almost all the way, but the only caution of the event – on lap 13 – helped Cameron Sontag zoom past her to grab the runner-up hardware.
With Carey finishing her strong night’s run in third, Michelle Leh and Joel Monahan rounded out the top five.

In the nightcap Thunder Stock 30-lapper, teenage speedster Tyler Janovsky led all the way to score his first-ever NASCAR feature win. Bryan Town, victorious a week earlier, worked his way from the last row up to second on lap 24, but was never a threat to Janovsky on this night. Jared Edson was solid in third, with Henry Martin and Marshall Usher rounding out the top five.
This Saturday, August 10, Monadnock Speedway will host an eight-division card of racing on the high-banked quarter-mile oval, featuring the NASCAR All-American Series Sportsman Modifieds, Super Stocks, Mini Stocks, Lightning Stocks, and Young Guns, as well as the Pro-4 Modifieds, ACOT, and Classic Lites.
