Joey Doiron: PASS North Series

PASS North Series Rookie of the Year leader Joey Doiron finishes the season with the rest of the series in the PASS 150 at White Mountain Motorsports Park on Friday night, September 17. Doiron has two goals remaining for the weekend, both of which he has a firm hold on — winning the Rookie of the Year honors while also finishing in the Top-10 in the final PASS North standings to guarantee himself a starting spot in the lucrative 300-lap event scheduled for North Wilkesboro Speedway next April. JOEY, WHAT’S THIS ROOKIE YEAR BEEN LIKE FOR YOU SO FAR?
I’m just ready to move on and go to White Mountain. I know we have a good car, and we just need to get it going again. If we could just get some luck.
We’ve just had awful luck all year — and there’s nothing you can do about luck. You can’t make your own luck all the time. We put ourselves in good positions, and sometimes, it’s just not our day.
YOU’VE KIND OF CHANGED YOUR OPINION OF WHITE MOUNTAIN MOTORSPORTS PARK.
I didn’t really care for the track going in, but as the race went on there in May, it wasn’t bad. I kind of like the place now.
It’s not like Beech Ridge where you have to save your stuff the whole race. You can go a lot harder a lot sooner there.
HOW WILL THIS TIME AROUND BE DIFFERENT FOR YOU, OTHER THAN HAVING SOME EXPERIENCE ON THE TRACK?
We had a good run there earlier this year. I’m excited to go there with this new car. It’s got a lot of power. The first time I went there, that was the problem — we didn’t have enough power.
