Hudson NH – Defending Outlaw Sportsmen champion Geoff Rollins picked up his second win in as many races on a picture perfect Fathers Day at Hudson International Speedway on June 19th. Long-time racer Matt “Junk Yard Dawg” Bosowski led the opening laps until 14 year old Derek Griffith grabbed the top spot. Rollins had rolled into second place by lap five and gave chase to Griffith. Rollins smoked his outside rear tire off every corner while closing in on Griffith who was starting to overheat. Rollins got beside Griffith going down the back chute and was able to complete the pass on the next lap.
There was a red flag for flames that were coming out of the rear of Rick Woodside Jr’s car at which time Griffith left the track with fluid spewing out of his overflow and was done for the day. Woodside Jr. was able to finish the race after the flames were put out a second time.
Dean Wendell moved into second place after the red flag but wasn’t able to challenge Rollins who cruised to the win. Wendell held on to finish second. Tim Lord crossed the finish line in third. Lord was driving in relief of his brother Ron Lord. Ron Lord injured his eye earlier in the week in a freak accident while exercising. Ron Lord started the feature and Tim Lord hopped in during the first caution period. Bosowski finished fourth and Woodside Jr. was fifth. Sixth through tenth were Kevin Aberle, Jay Maki, Stan Maki, Griffith and Todd Warren.
John Morin Jr. won his first Rookie Stock main of the 2011 racing season. Morin Jr. started on the outside pole and jumped out to the early lead and never looked back. Dan Murphy Jr. started in the third position and quickly moved into second behind Morin Jr. The race went caution free with Murphy Jr. a few car lengths behind Morin Jr. every lap. Crossing the finish line after Morin Jr. and Murphy Jr. were Corrie Merritt, Jerry Lepage, Scotty Duval, “Rockin” Ronnie Robinson, Slika Ennis, Scott Thomson, Bob Riopelle, Roger Tanguay and Matt Robinson.
Jason Carroll notched his third win of 2011 in the Roadrunners. Nick Fissette held the lead in the early going until Carroll took his PINK race car to the front. While Carroll was showing the way around the Hudson high banks, the battle on the track was for third between Jef James and Jen Lord. James tried high and low for a few laps. James finally made it past Lord when he used a lapped car as a pick and went low as Lord went high and made the pass. James then set his sights on the second place car of Fissette. James caught Fissette with laps winding down and tried high and low to get by but ran out of laps and finished third. Lord was fourth followed by Scott Dunklee, Bob Fields, Davi Cruz, Kevin Dunklee, Johnny Reefer and Robert Rund.
Defending Thunder Lite champion Chad Wendell picked up his first win of 2011. Jarrod Soucy was second followed by Meegan Lord, Carlos Esquivel and Nick Dombrowski.
Rich Beauschene won the 4 cyl. Enduro. Jim Deveau was right behind in second and Ricky Fissette was third.
