Joey Doiron: PASS North Series
Beech Ridge Motor Speedway Race Report

PASS

SCARBOROUGH, Maine – Joey Doiron of Berwick, Maine, finished fifth in the PASS North Series Southern Maine Motors.com 150 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine, on Saturday, July 9. It was the best finish of the season for the reigning PASS North Series Rookie of the Year and came at his home track. Doiron started 14th, but he worked his way into the Top-10 after just a handful of laps. He moved into the fifth spot on Lap 80 and was fourth just five laps later. Doiron was closing in on third place when his engine weakened, however, but he was able to hold on for fifth at the checkered flag. It will be a quick turnaround for Doiron and the rest of the PASS North teams, as he will compete at Lee USA Speedway’s Bastille 200 this coming Tuesday, July 12.

**************

JOEY, IT WAS A GREAT NIGHT FOR YOU.

I think this is the best we’ve been at the race track all year. It shows in the finish. It’s the first time we’ve run good all year.

The car was good all day. We unloaded and we were fast in every practice, and we were good in the heat race, too… but just circumstances made it hard to pass guys.

WHAT HAPPENED WITH THE ENGINE?

I felt like I was running Johnny (Clark) down for third, but the motor was skipping real bad the whole race. I was running the corners wide open, but people were passing me on the straightways. We salvaged what we could at the end of the race.

It’s great to have a fifth-place finish, but at the same time it’s disappointing when you think about what could have been.

ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO GOING TO LEE USA SPEEDWAY THIS WEEK?

Lee isn’t necessarily one of my favorite tracks – I have quite a bad history there – but we’ll see if we can keep the momentum going after tonight.
