Devil’s Bowl Speedway Race Preview
GEORGIA, Vt. – Brian Hoar of Williston, Vt., will try and win three straight ACT Late Model Tour events for the first time in his record-breaking career, joining the series for the Spring Green 112 at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in West Haven, Vt., on Sunday, May 6. Hoar won the first two races of the season at Lee USA Speedway and Thunder Road International Speedbowl, respectively, to take a six-point lead in the ACT standings with eight points races remaining. The driver of the RPM Motorsports No. 37 GossCars.com Dodge now has an ACT-record 35 career victories. Hoar won the Spring Green last year in the Tour’s inaugural visit to Devil’s Bowl Speedway, which was transformed from a dirt track during the winter of 2010-11.

Brian Hoar has won two consecutive points races on six different occasions in his career, most recently (prior to this season) in 2010 when he posted back-to-back victories at White Mountain Motorsports Park and Airborne Speedway while driving for RPM Motorsports. The last driver to win three consecutive ACT points races was Ben Rowe in 2006.

BRIAN HOAR, Driver of the RPM Motorsports No. 37 GossCars.com Dodge, On his back-to-back wins to begin the 2012 ACT season: “I’m pretty excited. The car and the team have been working well together again this year. We’re clicking and it’s fun, and when it’s fun you want to continue doing it as much as you can. It’s been an incredible start.
“It’s been an amazing start, and I’ve never had one like it in my career. I’d like it to go forever, but we know inevitably that it will end at some point. Obviously, we’re just going to try and prolong it as long as we can.”
On returning to Devil’s Bowl Speedway this weekend: “It’s a little bit faster track than we usually run on. I like that. It’s kind of a driver’s track – though I hesitate to call in that because I think that phrase gets overused sometimes. It throws a few different characteristics back into the driving that we don’t have at the Thunder Roads and the other bullrings we race at. You really have to be good on the brakes, especially getting down into Turn 1. Turn 3 reminds me of Airborne (Speedway), because it’s fast and flat getting into it.
“It’s flat and pretty fast, and it seemed like there was a lot of side-by-side racing last year. We went out there to practice prior to the race and by myself on the track, I thought, ‘I can’t imagine it will produce a good race,’ but it really did. What happens is that the guy on the inside gets pinched off and and the guy outside gets a good run, or vice versa. It really changed the dynamics for the race.”
On whether he’s concerned because he’s only raced at Devil’s Bowl once before: “I’m not really worried about it, because as little as I’ve got in my notebook – other guys have just as few little. Some guys maybe raced there semi-weekly last year, but it’s still a place where the Tour guys have just as much experience as the weekly guys do.
“It’s a big track, and like I said, I really enjoy those tracks where you can drive a little harder getting down into the turns, get on the brakes and try and get it turned to so you can get off the corner and get good speed down the straightaway.”

The ACT Late Model Tour holds it’s only points-paying event of the season at Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, Maine, with the Oxford 150 on Sunday, May 20… Brian Hoar has never won at Oxford Plains, though has not finished outside the Top-5 at Oxford in his last three ACT starts there – finishing second, third and fifth in those three events.
