THE STORY

FORT KENT, Maine – PASS South Series point leader Austin Theriault of Fort Kent, Maine, looks to put Brad Keselowski Racing back in Victory Lane when he heads to the PASS Easter Bunny 150 at Hickory Motor Speedway in Hickory, N.C., on Saturday, March 30. Theriault, who hasn’t finished worse than second in either of the first two PASS South races this season and is the only driver in the series to post Top-5 finishes in each of them, has never been to the famed .363-mile oval. He is coming off a win in the season opener at Dillon (S.C.) Motor Speedway earlier this month, followed by a runner-up finish the following week at Myrtle Beach Speedway in the BKR No. 29 Checkered Flag Foundation Ford Fusion. BKR finished second in each of the two PASS South races contested at Hickory last season with driver Landon Cling, including this PASS National Series points race.

Lynch Joins Série ACT Castrol as Chief Steward

LynchWaterbury, VT – American Canadian Tour officials have announced the hiring of several new officials across the Série ACT Castrol, Thunder Road, and the American Canadian Tour for the 2013 season.

The overhaul is headlined by the hiring of former Kawartha Speedway (ON) manager Derek Lynch as the Chief Steward of the Série ACT Castrol. Lynch started racing with ACT at just 17 years old in the late 1980s, and had won the Oxford 250 before heading to the NASCAR Busch North Series. His career eventually led him to Charlotte, NC, where he worked in fabrication for Darrell Waltrip racing. In 2000, he married Cait Curley, daughter of long-time Thunder Road promoter Tom Curley, and took over management at Kawartha Speedway. He left Kawartha at the end of last season.

ICEBREAKER TO FEATURE “BEST OF THE REST” RACE

THOMPSON, CT. Thompson’s Icebreaker weekend will offer two special race events on Saturday evening, April 13th.  The events will be called “Best of the Rest” events and will be held for the Xtra Mart Limited Sportsman and the Monster Mini Stocks.

The fields in these races will be made up of drivers who raced at Thompson in 2012 but did not finish in the top ten in points at year’s end. Anyone in either division who did finish in the top ten in points will not be eligible to participate in these “Best of the Rest” races.

Fast track Concessions will provide the sponsorship for the Monster Mini Stock 15-lap race and New England Race Fuels will provide the sponsorship for the Xtra Mart Limited Sportsman 20-lap main. These two non-points events will be in addition to the regular Icebreaker races for these two divisions that will be run on Sunday, April 14th.

Granite State Pro Stock teams getting ready for 2013 season opener

GSM2With only a few weeks remaining before the 2013 Granite State Pro Stock Series season opener, the teams are putting the final touches on their new mounts. The first hurdle will be acclimating themselves to the biggest speedway they will be facing this year, as Thompson Speedway holds their first practice session on Saturday, March 30.

This first open practice is the first time many of the competitors will be traveling the high banks of The Big T. Some of the younger competitors will be looking at some of the veterans of the series for advice. Fran Colson, who will be competing in his second season of Granite State competition is a veteran of many New England short tracks, and has a handful of wins at the Northeast CT. oval.

(March 24, 2013) – In an afternoon filled with breath-taking action and heart-stopping drama on the final lap, Kyle Busch (No. 18 Interstate Batteries Toyota) recorded his ninth career weekend sweep of the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series races and snapped a 31-race NSCS winless streak by taking the checkered flag in Sunday’s 17th-annual Auto Club 400 at Auto Club Speedway.

A day after winning his 54th NASCAR NNS Series race in the Royal Purple 300, Busch led most of Sunday’s race — 125 of the 200 laps – but regained the lead on the final lap after Joey Logano (No. 22 AAA Southern California Ford) and Denny Hamlin (No. 11 FedEx Express Toyota) took each other out to secure his 25th NSCS victory and put Toyota/Joe Gibbs Racing into Victory Lane for the first time — in 11 NSCS races — at Auto Club Speedway.
