NEW ENGLAND MOTORSPORTS SOUTH for November 2 – 4

Finishing with three wins and a second, Randy Cabral of Plymouth and owner Tim Bertrand captured the 2012 Northeastern Midget Association championships going away. Cabral/Bertrand, with four, was the only multiple winner in a campaign, NEMA’s 60th, that saw 11 different winners visit victory lane.

There were 10 different winners before Cabral became the first “two-timer” at Maine’s Beech Ridge Speedway on Sept. 16. From that point, Cabral drove the Bertrand #47 to a second at Waterford Speedbowl’s Finale and then to victories at Thompson Speedway’s World Series and Lee USA Speedway’s Ocktoberfest.

Brett Moffitt Slides Across Finish Line Sideways

Grimes, IA – Brett Moffitt, driver of the Hattori Racing Enterprises (HRE) #11 Kobe Toyopet Toyota Camry, scored another top-ten finish at Greenville-Pickens Speedway on Saturday, October 27th, in the rain-delayed Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet 140, crossing the finish line in 8th place after getting caught up in a last lap wreck.

Crew Chief Dave McCarty and the #11 HRE team unloaded a strong car on Saturday morning. During practice Moffitt radioed the team, “The car is amazing off. It’s a little snug in the middle, but the bite off is wonderful, and it should be great at the end.” By the conclusion of the practice session, Moffitt was very satisfied with his car. “We were really balanced by the end of practice. We were actually very good on the first run, and the team kept making small changes to fine-tune the car, so we know we have a fast car for the race,” he stated.

North-South Shootout Less Than 2 Weeks Away

The 10th annual Colors Edge John Blewett III North-South Shootout presented by PPG is less than two weeks away, and preparations at the historic Caraway Speedway are in full swing for the season-ending event which already has 28 Tour Modifieds entered for the main event.

North-South Shootout officials announced this week a number of of ticket options, including a VIP Colors Edge John Blewett III North-South Shootout presented by PPG package that includes premium seating around the .455-mile banked oval and pit access during both Friday and Saturday events.

THOMPSON FLEA MARKET THIS WEEKEND

ThompsonIt is one of the largest and most diversified events of its kind held anywhere and it is this weekend, November 3rd and 4th, at the Thompson International speedway. For the 41st consecutive year, the speedway gates will open for Don Hoenig’s Original Automotive Swap Meet and Flea Market. This annual event draws some 1,500 dealers and literally thousands of buyers during the two-day event.

Nearly 100 acres of the sprawling Thompson International Speedway complex are filled with items of virtually every description. While primarily an automotive event, it has grown over the years to include much, much more than car and truck parts. Buyers will find a huge variety of new and used items for sale at more than reasonable prices. Race cars and parts, trucks, trailers, tools, crafts, motorcycles, ATVs, tires and wheels are just a few of the thousands of items displayed each year.

North-South Shootout Supporting Red Cross

The 10th annual Colors Edge John Blewett III North-South Shootout will donate a portion of its proceeds to the American Red Cross in support of relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

Caraway Speedway promoters Darren and Renee Hackett announced Thursday morning that they will use the North-South Shootout to help in the recovery of Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern states after Hurricane Sandy produced billions of dollars in damages earlier this week. In addition to donating a portion of the event’s proceeds to the American Red Cross, drivers will also collect donations during the North-South Shootout autograph session at Caraway.
