Melissa Fifield a New Season a New Challenge

This year Melissa Fifield has made the change from Allison cars to Modifieds. I asked her what made her decide to race Modifieds rather than PASS Super Late Models or the ACT Late Models? Her response, “I have always loved Modifieds and dreamed about racing in the Valenti Modified Racing Series.”
There is approximately 17 modified races this season all across New England, and the Pine Knoll race team is hoping to make them all. “I really like the amount of races but, wish there was a race in Maine. I am looking forward to running at tracks that I’ve never been to.” Though the one race Melissa is most looking forward to is in Lee. “My favorite track is Lee USA Speedway since it is my home track and it’s a great racing facility.” The VMRS returns to Lee Speedway on June 29th.

JR Motorsports Tabs Cole Whitt For No. 88 Chevy in 2012
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (January 4, 2012) – JR Motorsports’ flagship team will compete for a NASCAR Nationwide Series championship with one of the sport’s up-and-coming stars, as Cole Whitt has been tabbed to drive the company’s flagship No. 88 Chevrolet in 2012, team owner Dale Earnhardt Jr. announced today.
Whitt, a 20-year-old native of Alpine, Calif., will also compete for Sunoco Rookie-of-the-Year honors. He comes to JR Motorsports from the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, where he finished ninth in last year’s championship standings with one pole, two top-five and 11 top-10 finishes. To date he is the youngest driver ever to win the USAC (United States Auto Club) National Midget championship, as his title-winning effort in 2008 put him alongside esteemed former USAC national champions such as Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart and Kasey Kahne.

GRIP presented by Hypercoil welcomes NASCAR, Indy 500 Spotter
PORTLAND, Maine – The eyes in the sky will come into sharp focus when the first annual GRIP Seminars presented by Hypercoil Springs takes place later this month.
Frank Bolter has worked the spotter’s stand from the top levels of NASCAR to the Indianapolis 500 to short-track Saturday nights, and he will join GRIP this Jan. 19-22 at the Seasons Event & Conference Center as one of the event’s keynote speakers. While the four-day short-track racing seminar will explore suspension information, brake technology, aerodynamics, driver development and marketing, it will also put an emphasis on spotting technique and its importance to a race team’s overall success. PASS will sanction the ALL AMERICAN 400 at historic Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway in 2012
CHARLOTTE, NC (January 3) – Officials today from the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) and Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville, TN announced today a major addition to the 2012 racing schedule. The PASS South Super Late Models will stage a 400 lap event on Saturday, October 6th at the historic .596 mile Tennessee oval. The race will be highlighted by a return to its traditional 400 lap distance and will pay $22,000 to the winner. There will be an additional $20 per lap awarded to the race leader which could push the winner’s total to $30,000.
“We are very honored that the PASS Super Late Models will be a part of returning the All American 400 to its rightful place as the premier Super Late Model event in the country,” said PASS President Tom Mayberry. “Fans and drivers have been begging to see the All American return to a true 400 lap test between man and machine and we are glad that we can make that happen.”
