Wayne Helliwell, Jr. Locks Up Second Ford Blue Oval Title

Waterbury, VT – For the second straight year, Wayne Helliwell, Jr. of Dover, NH and car owner Bruce Bernhardt won the Ford Blue Oval Cup Challenge and the $5,000 top prize. The E-Keys 4 Cars team competed in a total of 21 eligible events, which was the most of any of the fifteen Challenge teams.

The former Lee USA Speedway Championship team competed full-time on the ACT Late Model Tour for the first time in 2011. They finished second in the ACT final standings.

Devil’s Bowl Speedway “Town Meeting” October 30

RUTLAND, VT — All stock car competitors are being called upon to take part in a “town meeting” to discuss future plans at Devil’s Bowl Speedway. The meeting will be held at the Holiday Inn-Rutland on Route 7 in Rutland, VT on Sunday, October 30.

Vermont business owners Mike and Alayne Bruno are in the final stages of purchasing the Devil’s Bowl Speedway facility in West Haven, VT, and work has already begun behind the scenes in preparation for the 2012 racing season. (more…)

Hudson Race Report for November 16th

Hudson N.H. –“Pumkinfest 2011” was held on Sunday October 16th at Hudson International Speedway. It was a fun day for all with kids bikes races on the speedway before warm-ups, a costume contest, Enduros, and tight championship races in two divisions.

The first championship to be decided was in the Thunder Lights. After heat race points were calculated in, Chad Wendell held a ten point lead over Jarrod Soucy. With the car count in the Thunder Lights and it being a double points race, each spot in the feature was worth ten points more than the spot before it. So Wendell just needed to keep Soucy behind him and he would win his second Thunder Light championship in a row.

OXFORD, Maine – Joey Doiron of Berwick, Maine, finished 10th in the PASS North Series season finale, the PASS Championship 150, at Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, Maine, on Saturday, October 15. Doiron, who ran a part-time schedule in 2011, finished 10th in the final PASS North standings after posting Top-10 finishes in five of his last six races. Dorion ran as high as second in the season finale at Oxford, but he lost valuable track position when he was forced to pit under caution on Lap 96 when his car shut down unexpectedly while running caution laps. He restarted at the back of the field and had worked all the way back to the Top-10 when the race was called after 118 laps by rain.
