We have great chemistry on this team and it’s a great result. I feel like the race turned was Dario and Sato getting together. I don’t know who’s fault that was. That’s for them to decide. My car was so good in traffic. The guys deserve this win. This one is for them. I wish that it was different, but we’ll take it after the year that we’ve had.” (About the conditions at the end): “I couldn’t even warm the tires it was so wet. I don’t think the fans at home understand how wet it was. We have a very small contact patch and the Firestone contact patch is amazing but when there’s some rain down, there’s nothing there. I couldn’t even put the power down in second or third. Wrong move on race control’s part. We had such a great car today. I love these short ovals. They are so much fun. It was a strange day. But sometimes racing is strange.”

LOUDON, N.H. (Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011) — Ryan Hunter-Reay was the race leader when moisture on the racing surface at New Hampshire Motor Speedway brought out the yellow flag. LINDEMAN WINS THOMPSON
Andy Lindeman of Poestenkill, NY, scored the victory in 20-lap feature event for the visiting New England Truck Series. Howard Payne was strong right from the drop of the green flag. He cruised out to a comfortable lead over Andy Lindeman. The margin was erased after an incident on the front stretch that involved Keith Chapman. Lindeman got the jump on the restart and was the new leader on lap five. Duane Knoll ran comfortably in third over a brewing battle between Allen Coates, driving in relief of his son Corey, and Jason Lafayette. Back up front, Payne was looking racy; working over Lindeman for the lead. (more…)

Ryan Hunter-Reay won the MoveThatBlock.com INDY 225 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway today, after rain shortened the controversial race by five laps. Behind the wheel of his No. 28 Team DHL/Circle K/Sun Drop Citrus Soda car for Andretti Autosport, Hunter-Reay led 71 laps on his way to his first IZOD IndyCar Series race in 2011. “Short track racing tends to be a little crazier than most, things get heated because you are (running) closer than most,” said Hunter-Reay. “After three beautiful days, we knew the weather was coming. We figured we would (just) race to half way.” In victory lane Ryan said “It was tough trying to get traction out there because of the dampness. We also deserved this win,” Which ended up his second on an oval. We have to agree with Hunter-Reay because the sanction and teams brought 27 race cars to the venue. Even prior to that final crash that brought out the red flag, seven entries were among the casualties by lap 31. Which can be classified as high attrition. (more…)
