Andrew Gipson Set To Make NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Debut
17-Year-Old Led By Veteran Barney McRae
Bradenton, FL (April 9, 2011): Andrew Gipson is ready to make his NASCAR K&N Pro Series East debut next weekend at South Boston Speedway in Virginia. The 17-year-old is the fourth driver tapped by veteran driver and mentor Barney McRae to be developed in the series that has produced such racing greats as Joey Logano and Trevor Bayne. But Gipson, unlike many of the other series’ current contingent, has gotten to this level with only two years of racing experience. Therefore, the 2011 season will be focused on development.
“For Andrew, we’re concentrating on getting him to understand the cars – what he can and can’t do with them – and get him the experience he needs,” said McRae, who will serve as his crew chief. “This is all new territory for him, but he has the talent and the mental focus to be really successful at it. Santos Off To Record Start
Breaks own track mark in qualifying for NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour opener
THOMPSON, Conn. (April 9, 2011) — Defending champion Bobby Santos shows no sign of slowing down. In fact, the Franklin, Mass., driver is getting faster.
Santos broke his own track record in qualifying Saturday for Sunday’s Icebreaker, the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour opener at Thompson International Speedway. Santos posted a lap of 18.237 seconds (123.376 mph) around the .625-mile oval for his fifth career Coors Light Pole Award.
Santos also posted the fastest lap in Saturday morning’s practice for the Icebreaker. He is the defending race winner, too. (more…)
PASS South: Fifteen drivers race their way Into “THE RACE”
Five heat races highlight first ever night racing action at North Wilkesboro Speedway
With the top-15 drivers locked in to the show after qualifying earlier in the evening for the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South presented by JE Pistons and Roush Yates Performance Parts “THE RACE” on Friday, April 8th, the focus shifted to the five heat races to lock in 16th – 30th with the first-ever races under the lights at North Wilkesboro Speedway (NC). While Patrick Laperle, Ross Kenseth, Ryan Blaney, Jeff Choquette and Preston Peltier went to victory lane in the five 25-lap heat races, a total of 15 heat-race drivers added their names to the already-qualified list , bringing the locked in total to 30 for Saturday’s 300-lap event. JAMIE “THE JET” TOMAINO STILL CHASING FIRST CAREER CARQUEST TECH-NET SPRING SIZZLER VICTORY AFTER 27 YEARS

record for most career starts with 33, and A.J. Foyt holds the Indy 500
record for most career starts with 35. Jamie Tomiano, who has raced in 27

Sizzler record for most career starts and he will add to that total in this

in this year’s edition of “The Greatest Race in the History of Spring”.
Tomaino made his first career Spring Sizzler start in 1980 and he has been
in the Sizzler starting field every year since 1989, a span of 22
