Sanborn seals the deal at PASS Summerfest 150
NAPLES ME (8/31) Trevor Sanborn found a way to get by team mate Travis Benjamin on lap 83 of Saturday nights Pro All Stars Series (PASS) super late model feature at Groveton NH’s Riverside Speedway, earning his first career PASS North win. Sanborn and Benjamin gave the RMR team a sweep of the top two spots, a first for veteran car owner Richard Moody. Richie Dearborn crossed the line third.
Sanborn has been fast all season long, leading 262 laps prior to the Summerfest 150. But despite several podium finishes, the two time PASS South race winner had been unable to drive under the checkers first in the northern series until Saturday night.
Ben Rowe picked up six spots from the grid to finish fourth; 2009 Summerfest 150 winner Cassius Clark was fifth. Donnie Whitten had another solid run in sixth, while point leader Johnny Clark finished outside of the top five for just the second time in 2010 with a seventh place result. Scott Chubbuck, Gary Drew and Adam Bates raced home eighth, ninth and tenth.

Joey Polewarczyk: ACT Late Model Tour
Seekonk Speedway/Twin State Speedway
Joey Polewarczyk Jr. of Hudson, N.H., continued his midsummer surge on Saturday, July 31, returning to Seekonk Speedway and winning a 75-lap Late Model main event at the track. The victory was Polewarczyk’s second in a span of eight days after claiming his first ACT Late Model Tour win of the season a week ago at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway. Ironically, the car Polewarczyk drove to victory at Seekonk has plenty of history. Not only was it the car that carried Polewarczyk to his first career ACT victory at Seekonk in August 2007, but it’s also the car that two-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Tony Stewart drove in the VT Governor’s Cup 150 at Thunder Road International Speedbowl in June 2009 — and the same car that Polewarczyk set the Late Model qualifying record with at Thunder Road in 2006. He survived a three-wide battle on the race’s final restart with under 20 laps remaining to post the victory. To cap off his week, Polewarczyk finished ninth in the ACT Twin State 100 at Twin State Speedway on Friday night, as well..

Ben Rowe of Turner, Maine, finished fourth in the PASS North Series Summerfest 150 at Riverside Speedway in Groveton, N.H., on Saturday, July 31. Rowe started 12th in the 18-car field and worked into the top-10 before the 50-lap mark on the high-banked, quarter-mile track. He benefited from a lap 81 restart, gaining a few spots’ worth of track position before running comfortably inside the top-five for the remainder of the event. Unofficially, Rowe gained five points in the title chase on leader Johnny Clark and now trails by just nine points heading into the final four races of the year.

Charlie Colby and Kari Thibodeau pick up first Beech Ridge victories
Scarborough,Maine-Charlie Colby joined the ranks of the NASCAR Pro Series drivers this season at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway and Saturday night the move paid off handsomely as Colby entered victory lane following the 40 lap main event. Keith McKinnon led the field to the green flag and led the opening 7 laps. Colby quickly moved around McKinnon to take the lead position on the next circuit and began to pull away from the field. Jay Sands moved to second place at the mid point of the race and Mike Rowe took third but Colby was too far in front for them to make a run. This was Charlie Colby’s first feature win at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway. Steve Carrier finished fourth and Aaron Ricker was fifth. (more…)
