CARQUEST FALL FINAL WEEKEND TO CLOSE OUT 2011 SEASON AT STAFFORD SPEEDWAY

(Stafford Springs, CT)—Stafford Motor Speedway will close out its 2011
NASCAR season with the 39th Annual CARQUEST Fall Final Weekend, scheduled
for Sept. 30th through Oct. 2nd. The track will host the final races for
its five NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions as well as the
penultimate round of the 2011 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season. Stafford
will crown its track champions that weekend and the Whelen Modified Tour

CHANGE OF PLANS HAS DON WOOD IN CONTENTION FOR DARE STOCK TRACK CHAMPIONSHIP AT STAFFORD SPEEDWAY

(Stafford Springs, CT)—After winning the 2009 DARE Stock track
championship, Don Wood ran the first half of the 2010 season and won 2 races
before handing the keys to his car over to David and Paul Arute for the
second half of the year. The plan was the same for the 2011 season, as Wood
was going to run the first half of the year and then hand the car over to
Stephanie Berardi and Charlie Newman. But Wood again had 2 wins and was
leading the points at the midway point of the season, so the team made the
decision to keep Wood in the car and race for the track championship. (more…)

UNOH SHOWDOWN THIS WEEKEND AT THOMPSON

ThompsonTHOMPSON, CT. The much anticipated UNOH SHOWDOWN is set for this weekend at the Thompson International Speedway. Race fans have been looking forward to this first-time-ever event all season long.

The UNOH SHOWDOWN is unique in that the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour and the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour will share the same bill for the first time in north. Each Tour will compete in its own 125-lap feature event for purses in excess of $53,000.00 for each Tour. Upon completion of the two 125s, the field for the 50-Lap, $50,000.00+ SHOWDOWN will be assembled and the stage will be set for what could be one of the greatest battles in NASCAR Whelen Modified racing history. The driver who emerges as the victor will pocket some $15,000.00.

TODD OWEN LOOKS TO IMPROVE BY ONE POSITION IN SHARK CYCLE 80 AT STAFFORD SPEEDWAY ON SEPT. 9TH

(Stafford Springs, CT)—When the Modified Racing Series made their first
visit of the 2011 season to Stafford for the rain interrupted Lincoln Tech
80, Todd Owen had a car that was nearly the class of the field. After
starting the feature from the 20th position, Owen had worked his way into
7th place before rain halted the race with 32 laps complete. When the race
resumed in August, Owen continued his charge to the front and he nearly won
the race, finishing second to Keith Rocco. Owen is returning to Stafford
with the same car for the Shark Cycle 80 on Sept. 9th and he will be looking
to improve his previous result by one position. (more…)

DAVE ETHERIDGE LOOKING FORWARD TO SHARK CYCLE 80 MRS RACE AT STAFFORD SPEEDWAY

(Stafford Springs, CT)—When the Modified Racing Series made their first
visit of the 2011 season to Stafford in June, Dave Etheridge had one of the
strongest cars and looked to be a contender for victory. Then the rain
forced the race to be resumed in August and Etheridge fought his way to a
10th place finish. When the MRS comes back to Stafford next Friday night,
Sept. 9 for the Shark Cycle 80, Etheridge will be looking to repeat his June
performance and be a contender for the checkered flag.
