Douton, Boss & Field Also Winners
Thompson, CT (June 30, 2011): The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour made its second visit of the season to Thompson International Speedway on Thursday night. Ted Christopher of Plainville, CT, made a late race surge to win his seven of the last nine WMT events held at the Connecticut oval. Keith Rocco of Wallingford, CT, waged a heated battle with Ryan Preece to score a victory in the Sunoco Modifieds.
Mike O’Sullivan of Springfield, MA, was victorious in the Super Model division. His triumph was matched by his brother Tommy O’Sullivan, also of Springfield, who scored his second straight Late Model feature win. Chris Douton of Waterford, CT, earned the victory in a rough-and-tumble Limited Sportsman feature. Glenn Boss of Danielson, CT, wired the field to score his first TIS Modified feature win of the season. Danny Field of Deep River, CT, continues to make history at Thompson International Speedway with his sixth consecutive victory in the Mini Stocks. (more…)
(Stafford Springs, CT)—For Stafford SK Light competitor Tommy Membrino,
Jr., the 2011 season has been a resurgence of sorts for himself and the #00
Membrino Electric team. After winning twice and finishing 6th in the points
standings in 2009, the team only raced 9 times in 2010 and finished 22nd in
the points standings. But that has all turned around this season as
Membrino collected his first win of the 2011 season in grand style last
Friday night, taking home a $600 bonus from the Gunsmoke Stables Front
Runner Challenge. Combined with his race purse and further contingency
bonuses from The Davidson Company and New England Racing Fuel, Membrino took
home $1,000 for his winning efforts, a big boost for a team that almost wasn
’t going to make it to the track this year. (more…)
News & Notes: Christopher Looks To Continue Thompson Mastery
Veteran has won six of last eight Modified Tour races at TIS
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – If one had to take either Ted Christopher or the field if asked to predict who might win the Budweiser ‘King of Beers’ 150 at Thompson (Conn.) International Speedway on June 30, they’d have a hard time going against No. 36.
Christopher has won six of the last eight NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour races at Thompson, and 12 total in his illustrious career. This current run that started with the 2008 World Series has been so dominant that Christopher even finished second and fifth in those two races in which he didn’t take the checkered flag. (more…)
