STAFFORD-TRACK-LOGOFormer K&N Pro East Series Stafford Winner Eddie MacDonald Excited to Return in 2016

(Stafford Springs, CT)—When Stafford Speedway announced the addition of a K&N East Pro Series event on June 17 to its 2016 schedule, perhaps no driver was more excited than Eddie MacDonald. The Rowley, MA native and driver of the #71 Grimm Construction Chevrolet has 7 career K&N East wins with one of those wins coming at Stafford back in 2007.

“Stafford is definitely one of the tougher tracks to get a hold of but I’m excited about going back and I’ll be looking forward to it,” said MacDonald. “Now that the schedule is out, we’ll look at it and pick the races we think we can run well at and try to get a win, and I’d say almost definitely we’re going to be at Stafford. My car owner, Rob Grimm, is in Pennsylvania so I drive by the Stafford exit every time we go to a race and I always say it would be nice to be racing there instead of driving another 15 or 16 hours to a race. I had no idea that Stafford was a possibility of getting back on the schedule and I was really excited when I saw that.”

Stafford Speedway Set to Host the K&N Pro East Series On June 17, 2016

(Stafford Springs, CT)—After a 7 year hiatus the NASCAR K&N Pro East Series will return to Stafford Motor Speedway for the running of the NASCAR 150. The Connecticut famed half-mile will be the only short track New England appearance for the series in 2016.

“We’re looking forward to hosting the NASCAR K&N Pro East Series,” said Stafford COO/GM Mark Arute. “The K&N Pro East Series has always provided a nice mix of up and coming drivers with local drivers and there have been a great deal of K&N drivers that have succeeded at the highest levels of NASCAR. Trevor Bayne and Joey Logano have both won the Daytona 500 and we’ve also had drivers like Martin Truex, Jr. and Austin Dillon, who have won championships in the premier divisions of NASCAR. This season’s K&N Pro Series East drivers could very well be future Daytona 500 or premier series champions.”
