Points Leader Chris Pasteryak Ready for VMRS 80 at Stafford Speedway

Valenti Modified Racing SeriesPoints Leader Chris Pasteryak Ready for VMRS 80 at Stafford Speedway

(Stafford Springs, CT)—After a dismal start to the 2015 Valenti Modified Racing Series season, Chris Pasteryak has turned on the afterburners with 4 wins and he finds himself leading the championship standings as the VMRS comes to Stafford this Friday night, September 4th for the VMRS 80. Pasteryak is a former VMRS winner at Stafford in September of 2011 and another win at Stafford would continue the positive surge he and his #5 team sponsored by Seals-It, Sunoco Race Fuels, Dawley’s Collision and Custom, and Bilstein Shocks have been on.

“Another win at Stafford would be great,” said Pasteryak. “Before this year, our Stafford win was my last win in a modified. It took me 4 years to get back to victory lane so I’m trying to savor every one because you never know when it’ll be your last win. It feels pretty good to be leading the points. We only got the point lead because Woody skipped the Oxford race, but we finished last in the first Stafford race that Woody won, so that’s kind of an even swap. He’s not going to go away, he’s good at the three remaining tracks on the schedule and he’s going to be tough. Todd Patnode is also good at the last three tracks and if we’re not careful, he might walk away with the whole thing.”

Rowan Pennink & Ryan Preece Separated by Only 26 Points in SK Mod Championship Chase

staffordRowan Pennink & Ryan Preece Separated by Only 26 Points in SK Mod Championship Chase

(Stafford Springs, CT)—For the majority of the 2015 SK Modified® season, Rowan Pennink and the #99 NAPA Van Wickle Auto Supply team have been in control of the race for the championship. They won the season opening NAPA Spring Sizzler feature and have been at the top of the points standings for all but a few weeks of the season.

While they have been the dominant team with 6 wins and 15 top-5 finishes, Pennink only has a 26 point lead over the #6 East West Marine / Sullivan & Sons team of Ryan Preece. Preece has been the most consistent driver with 17 top-5 finishes, but he trails Pennink in wins by a 6-2 margin and in top-5 finishes by a 15-13 margin. With a 26-point deficit to make up over the final four races, Preece knows that his team has to raise their game and get back to NAPA Victory Lane.

Pasteryak Takes Point Lead To Stafford Friday

Valenti Modified Racing SeriesPasteryak Takes Point Lead To Stafford Friday

Canaan, NH.– Thanks to a dominating performance at Oxford Plains (ME) Saturday, the absence of a couple of key men atop the point standings, and a well prepared family race car, Chris Pasteryak, of Jewett City, CT, emerged from the weekend as an 11-point leader in the standings for the Valenti Modified Racing Series with three races remaining on the schedule. The first of the three is the 6th annual VMRS 80, Friday night September 4, at Stafford Motor Speedway, Stafford, CT.

Instead of looking up at the leaders, Pasteryak will be looking over his shoulder at Todd Patnode, Woody Pitkat, Todd Szegedy, and Norm Wrenn.

Thompson SpeedwayThompson Late Models Invited to Test at Stock Car Road Race Challenge

(THOMPSON, CT) – OTB Promotions and Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park (TSMP) have announced the addition of four Late Model practice sessions to the Saturday schedule of the Stock Car Road Race Challenge on September 11th and 12th. Though they will not be participating in competitive laps, the sessions will give Late Model teams an ideal opportunity to test car set-up and driving techniques on the newly re-opened 1.7 mile road course at TSMP.

Multi-time Late Model champion, Rick Gentes, will be among several other Late Model teams taking advantage of the practice sessions. “I don’t have any experience with this kind of racing, but my chassis builder has a good idea of how to set up the car for the road course.” Gentes stated. “If anything it will be more me than the car that needs to adapt to driving on the road course.”
