WATERFORD, CT – Josh Galvin becomes the fifth different winner in six races on the North East Street Stock Tour, as he picked up the victory in the A-1 Auto Center/Stebbins Discount Stump Grinding event at New London-Waterford Speedbowl.

Galvin started on the pole of the 35-lap feature, but was quickly overtaken by former track champion Chris Douton. The battle would ensue again on lap 7, as Galvin fought his way back to the lead. Another former track champion, Jim Boyle joined the battle, as the top three began to break away from the pack. Boyle made a move to challenge Douton, and the two were side-by-side for numerous laps, which allowed Galvin to open a sizable lead.

(Stafford Springs, CT)—Stafford Speedway returned to NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing action with the Lincoln Tech Back 2 SK®ool Blitz. Taking down feature wins on the night was Ronnie Williams in the SK Modified® feature, Tom Fearn in the Late Model feature, Payton Henry in the SK Light feature, Al Saunders in the Ltd. Late Model feature, Brandon Michael in the DARE Stock feature, and Devin O’Connell in the Legend Cars feature.

In the 40-lap SK Modified® feature event, Matt Galko set the early pace with Ted Christopher and Eric Berndt behind him. Keith Rocco quickly moved into fourth and Rowan Pennink got by Jeremy Sorel to move up to fifth.

(THOMPSON, CT) – Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park was back in action with the Pepsi Back to School Bash on Wednesday, August 26th, the penultimate event for the speedway with only the World Series weekend in October left on the schedule for the facility’s legendary oval track. The event provided some of the best racing the Big T has seen all season, with lead changes, cautions and three and four-wide racing a common sight throughout the evening.

The night’s highlight events were a pair of Sunoco Modified Series races in a double feature that made for a massive points night and a total purse of over $11,000 across the two 25-lap races.

WATERFORD, CT – The North East Street Stock Tour will travel to New London-Waterford Speedbowl for the sixth event of the tour’s schedule, on August 29. The following is a closer look at notes and numbers of the North East Street Stock Tour at New London-Waterford Speedbowl (NLWS).

NEW LONDON-WATERFORD SPEEDBOWL NOTES:
The New London-Waterford Speedbowl opened on April 15, 1951. It began as a 1/3 mile crushed blue stone oval race track, but was quickly paved due to excessive dust. The initial owners were actually 6 local businessmen, and called themselves The New London-Waterford Speedbowl, Inc. The original headlining division were called Sportsmen Stocks, which are now considered Modifieds.

(Stafford Springs, CT)—As the 2015 season begins to wind itself to a conclusion, there are tight championship races across the board in Stafford Speedway’s 6 divisions. Here is a closer look at the contenders from each division to keep an eye on as the 2015 season steams full speed ahead towards the NAPA Fall Final Weekend on Oct. 3-4, where the track champions will be decided.

SK Modified® Division: Rowan Pennink and the #99 Van Wickle NAPA Auto Supply team picked right up where they left off in 2014. They won the season opening NAPA Spring Sizzler feature event and have been in the top-3 of the points standings all year long. Pennink currently leads the standings by 10 points over Ryan Preece on the strength of 6 wins and 14 top-5 finishes, both of which leads the SK Modified® field. 13 of Pennink’s 14 top-5 finishes have been podium spots, which also leads the division.

His 73 career feature wins at the Connecticut half-mile facility rank second to only Ted Christopher and he has an SK Modified® track championship along with 2 Late Model track titles to his name. When the Valenti Modified Racing Series takes the green flag for the VMRS 80 on Sept. 4, Pitkat will be looking to add his name to another chapter in the Stafford record book by becoming the first driver to record a season sweep in a modified touring division.
