Waterford, CT (August 30, 2014) – Waterford Speedbowl hosted Thunder on the Sound Saturday, a seven division motorsports program highlighted by the 18th annual Budweiser Modified Nationals SK Modified® 150. The biggest race of the year for the track’s headline NASCAR Whelen All-American Series division was won by Tyler Chadwick of Ledyard. Other winners on the night included Keith Rocco of Berlin in the Valenti Auto Mall Late Models, while a pair of drivers picked up their third victories of the year, Ryan Waterman of Danielson in the Street Stocks Ray Christian III of Groton in the Mini Stocks. Paul Buzel of Trumbull was a first time winner in SK Light Modified action, Mike Christopher Jr. of Wolcott won in the INEX Legend Cars and Paul LaPlante won the Vintage Outlaw Modified race.

Waterford Speedbowl returned to motorsports action on Wednesday evening with another Wild ‘n Wacky Wednesday racing program. Scoring wins included Mike Christopher Jr. of Wolcott in the INEX Legend Cars, Jim Boyle of East Windsor in the Super X-Cars, Wayne Shifflett of Preston in the X-Car division and Ken Morin Jr. of Old Saybrook in the INEX Bandoleros.

The 18th annual Budweiser Modified Nationals SK-150 takes center stage with a $5,000 winner’s prize and a total posted race purse of greater than $20,000. 2014 Ltd. Late Model Season at Stafford Speedway a Tale of Two Resurgences for Norm Sears
(Stafford Springs, CT)—After taking the 2012 and 2013 seasons off, former 3-time DARE Stock Champion Norm Sears returned to competition in the Limited Late Model division at Stafford Speedway this year. As the 2014 season has played out, the year has become a tale of two resurgences for Sears.
Sears raced in the Limited Late Model division from 2009-2011 after winning 3 consecutive DARE Stock track championships, and his 2014 season was on track to match or even better his best season of 2011 when he finished fourth in the points standings. But a wreck that left his car heavily damaged on July 25th threatened to bring his season to a premature halt. Enter the #36 Don’s Home Improvement team, which originally had DARE Stock graduate Kelsey Rottino as its driver. They offered Sears the seat in their car for the remainder of the 2014 season, and Sears’ championship aspirations were immediately put back on track.

returned to Waterford Speedbowl Saturday evening with a six-division
racing card on track. Hometown driver Rob Janovic Jr. claimed the night’s
SK Modified® victory, his first of the year. Bruce Thomas Jr. of Groton
took his third Valenti Auto Mall Late Model feature win, Josh Galvin of Franklin won for the tenth time in the Street Stocks, and Ken Cassidy Jr. of Lisbon took his sixth Mini Stock win of the year. Brendon Bock of Franklin Square, NY won his first ever Speedbowl feature in the evening’s INEX Legend Cars race and Allen Coates of Ledyard recorded another win in the New England Truck Series at his home track.
