Food Bank Night & Late Model 20/20 Sprint Next on Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park Schedule

thompson speedwayFollowing it’s customary spring break, Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park (TSMP) will be back in action on Thursday, May 15, with it’s four NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions and the Lite Modifieds for Food Bank Night, benefiting ACCESS Agency and TEEG.

The Late Model Division will take center stage as they will participate in their segment race. Labeled the “20/20 Sprint,” TSMP’s top-tier fendered division will be showcased in three races, determining one overall winner. The first two races, which will be championship points events – will be 20 laps in distance, and the final sprint will only be 10 laps. A separate point system, crediting drivers with points based upon finishing position, will be used to determine the overall winner. At the end of the total 50-laps, the driver with the lowest number of points will take home the $1,200.00 winner’s purse. The total purse boasts over $7,000 not including special awards.

PENALTY ANNOUNCED FROM NAPA SPRING SIZZLER WEEKEND NASCAR WHELEN ALL-AMERICAN SERIES PROGRAM AT STAFFORD MOTOR SPEEDWAY

(Stafford Springs, CT)—Stafford Motor Speedway has announced the following penalty following the running of the April 26-27 NAPA Spring Sizzler NASCAR Whelen All-American Series feature events.

Rowan Pennink, driver of the No. 99 SK Modified®, has been penalized for a rules violation committed this past Sunday at Stafford Motor Speedway.
Pennink has been penalized from his third place finish in the 40-lap SK Modified feature and placed to last place (29th) and fined 44 points for violating rule 20E-12.3 Coil Over Shocks of the 2014 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series SK Modified® rulebook.

Preece, Stuart, & Wells Score NAPA Auto Parts Spring Sizzler Sunday Feature Victories At Stafford

(Stafford Springs, CT)—Stafford Motor Speedway’s 43rd Annual NAPA Auto Parts Spring Sizzler Weekend continued on Sunday with feature events for the SK Modified®, Late Model, and NorthEast Mini Stock Tour divisions. Ryan Preece scored a dominating win in the 40-lap SK Modified® feature, XXX in the 30-lap Late Model feature event, and Toby Wells was the winner of the 25-lap NorthEast Mini Stock Tour feature.

In the 40-lap SK Modified® feature, Joey Cipriano took the lead at the green with Matt Galko settling into second behind him. Tom Bolles was third with Rowan Pennink moving up to fourth. Sean Foster was side by side with Curt Brainard for fifth for a lap before taking the position. Bolles dropped off the pace on lap-8 while Cipriano continued to lead the race with Galko behind him.

stafford(Stafford Springs, CT)—For the third consecutive season, Stafford Motor Speedway’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Series drivers will be racing for extra bonus money thanks to Xtra Mart Convenience Stores. Stafford’s Xtra Mart Xtra D program gives drivers from each of their five weekly divisions the opportunity to race in an extra distance feature and the top-5 finishers from each Xtra Mart Xtra D feature will receive a cash bonus. For the 2014 season, Xtra Mart Convenience Stores will contribute a total of $3,750 that will be split up among the five races that will make up the Xtra Mart Xtra D Series.

4th Annual Champions For Charities Race Returns To Stafford

stafford(Stafford Springs, CT)— Stafford Motor Speedway’s Champions for Charities race will return for a 4th consecutive season on Friday, June 27th. The event has collectively raised over $150,000 throughout the past 3 seasons for numerous charities. This year’s 15-lap feature will have a total of 11 open-wheeled championship drivers competing to raise money for the charity of their choice in Wild Thing Senior Outlaw Karts.

Matt Hirschman Looking To Be A Contender In 43rd Annual NAPA Auto Parts Spring Sizzler at Stafford Motor Speedway

stafford(Stafford Springs, CT)—When the green flag falls on the 43rd Annual NAPA Auto Parts Spring Sizzler, one of the favorites for the checkered flag will be the combination of Matt Hirschman and the #52 Furnace and Duct Supply team owned by Wayne Darling. The Darling team has won 4 of the last 8 races at Stafford with Doug Coby behind the wheel and Hirschman has 4 top-5 and 13 top-10 finishes at Stafford in 19 career starts. While the combination of the two is new for the 2014 season, they are rekindling a connection that was in existence on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour from 2006-2009.
