WEATHER POSTPONES VMRS RACE AT THOMPSON
THOMPSON, CT. It has become a familiar refrain in 2013, but a persistent drizzle and forecasts for heavier rains this afternoon and evening have forced the postponement of the Thursday Night Thunder race program at Thompson Speedway. The program was to feature the Valenti Modified Racing Series and Thompson’s own NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing.
Officials from both Thompson Speedway and the Valenti Modified Racing Series will announce a makeup date as soon as one can be established.

Barnett and Gleason Win Limited Sportsman Twin Features
Thompson, Conn: Berlin, Conn. native Matt Gallo stood out as the only first time winner in a sea of repeat winners in this week’s edition of Thursday Night Thompson Thunder. Gallo took down the victory in the Sunoco Modified portion of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series card. Repeat winners included Glenn Boss in the Late Models, Cam McDermott in the Lite Modifieds, and Scott Michalski in the Monster Mini Stocks. Larry Barnett and Jesse Gleason each won 20-lap Limited Sportsman features.
Gallo took the lead of the 30-lap Sunoco Modified feature event from his outside front row starting position and never looked back. He led every lap en route to his first career Thompson Speedway win.
Gallo led the charge at the start of the race with Paul Newcomb and Woody Pitkat rounding out the top three. Gallo was on fire as he pulled away to a commanding half-a-straightaway lead over the rest of the field.

Thompson, Conn: John Lowinski-Loh of Milford, Mass., Steve Kenneway of Lowell, Mass. and Chad Baxter of Pascoag, RI all captured their first season wins on Whelen Engineering night in Thursday Night Thunder at Thompson (TNTT). Other NASCAR Whelen All-American Series winners included Keith Rocco of Meriden, Conn. in the Sunoco Modified division with his fourth victory of the season and John Studley of Framingham, Mass. in the Lite Modifieds.
Lowinski-Loh has a proven record of success at Thompson Speedway and that’s why it was no surprise that he continued that pattern behind the wheel of a Late Model. Lowinski-Loh nailed his first victory in only his fifth start in the highly competitive division after taking the lead at lap 14 from John Falconi.
Falconi and Damon Tinio led the field to green with Falconi taking the point in turn two after a brief side-by-side battle. Lowinski-Loh took over second on the second circuit with Tinio settling into third.
