WEATHER POSTPONES THOMPSON RACES UNTIL SUNDAY

ThompsonWith predictions of severe thunderstorms and the possibility of tornados, the Thompson International Speedway has postponed its Thursday Night Thompson Thunder race event until this coming Sunday, July 29th.

The paddock will open on Sunday at 11 AM and practice will start at 12 Noon. Grandstands will open at 12 Noon. Qualifying is slated for a 2:30 PM start with features getting underway at about 3 PM.

VALENTI MODIFIED RACING SERIES TOPS THURSDAY THOMPSON LINEUP

ThompsonThe Valenti Modified Racing Series returns to the Thompson International Speedway this week for Thursday Night Thompson Thunder racing action. The popular VMRS will be making its second appearance of the year at Thompson.

Current VMRS points leader, Rowan Pennink, will be looking to repeat his winning performance of May 20th. Pennink’s May victory was not an easy one as he fought tooth and nail with Ted Christopher for the top spot until Christopher’s mount developed mechanical problems. Pennink was able to hold off late-race challenges from Richard Savary and Geoff Gernhard before he could claim the victory. The going won’t be any easier this week as the eventual winner of the 75-lap main event will have to hold off efforts of many of northeast’s best drivers.

Mike O’Sullivan Wins 50-Lap Super Late Model Race; Lowinski-Loh’s Win Streak Ended Race results 7-19-2012

Thompson, Conn: Jason Chicolas added his name to this season’s win column in the Limited Sportsman division during Thompson Thursday Night Thunder. Other winners in NASCAR Whelen All American Series action included Keith Rocco in the Sunoco Modified division, Tommy O’Sullivan in the Late Models, and Mike O’Sullivan in a special 50-lap Super Late Model race. Jay Sundeen won an exciting contest with John Lowinski-Loh, Jr. that resulted in both drivers coming across the finish line sideways in the Thompson Modified feature. Cam McDermott and Dave Trudeau were winners in their divisions.
