CIPRIANO, NOCERA, & CASAGRANDE SCORE FIRST WHELEN ALL-AMERICAN SERIES
FEATURE EVENTS OF 2011 AT STAFFORD MOTOR SPEEDWAY’S TECH-NET SPRING SIZZLER
SATURDAY
(Stafford Springs, CT)—Stafford Motor Speedway’s 2011 NASCAR Whelen
All-American Series season kicked off with its first three feature events of
the new year during Saturday’s CARQUEST Tech-Net Spring Sizzler Weekend.
Joey Cipriano won the 20-lap SK Light Modified feature, George Nocera, Jr.
won the 20-lap Limited Late Model feature event, and Kyle Casagrande took
the checkered flag in the 15-lap DARE Stock feature event.
In the 20-lap SK Light Modified feature event, Kyle Spencer jumped to the
early lead from the pole position with Matt Galko moving by Ted Cain to take
second. Cain settled into third with Frank Cardile and Zach Aszklar side by
side behind him for the fourth position. Cardile went up the track and
brushed the wall in turn 3 to bring the caution out with 2 laps complete.
Spencer again took the lead back under green with Joey Cipriano moving up to
second. David Webb moved into third, but he was given the black flag for
leaking, moving Cain into third, Galko to fourth, and Shayne Prucker held
down the fifth position. Webb refused to answer the black flag and the
caution was displayed with 7 laps complete to get the car off of the track.
Back under green Spencer took the lead ahead of Cipriano, Cain, and Matt
Galko. One lap after the restart, Prucker and Aszklar got together with
Prucker driving up and over the left side tires of Aszklar and he came to a
stop in turn 3 and brought the yellow out.

DOUG COBY SEEKING REPEAT OF PAST SUCCESS IN THIS WEEKEND’S 40TH ANNUAL CARQUEST TECH-NET SPRING SIZZLER AT STAFFORD
(Stafford Springs, CT)—With the Whelen Modified Tour coming to Stafford
Speedway this weekend for the 40th Annual CARQUEST Tech-Net Spring Sizzler,
one driver who will be looking for a good finish is Doug Coby. Coby is the
2006 Spring Sizzler champion and he is a former two-time track champion at
Stafford, winning a Late Model championship in 1998 and a ProStock title in
2000. Coby tested at Stafford two weeks ago during an open practice
session, and based on that test he is looking forward to returning to the
site of his lone Whelen Modified Tour victory.

TED CHRISTOPHER HAS WINNING MOMENTUM ON HIS SIDE AS HE SEEKS FOURTH CONSECUTIVE CARQUEST TECH-NET SPRING SIZZLER CROWN
(Stafford Springs, CT)—When the green flag comes out for the 40th Annual
CARQUEST Tech-Net Spring Sizzler this Sunday, May 1st at Stafford, there
will be one driver in the starting lineup who has all the momentum in the
world on his side. Ted Christopher, who will be attempting to win the
Sizzler for the fourth consecutive year, has won 9 races in 6 different
states thusfar during his already busy 2011 season.

TODD SZEGEDY FEELS GOOD ABOUT CHANCES OF WINNING 40th ANNUAL CARQUEST TECH-NET SPRING SIZZLER AT STAFFORD
(Stafford Springs, CT)—As Stafford Speedway readies to let the green flag
fly on the 40th Annual CARQUEST Tech-Net Spring Sizzler this weekend, 2003
Whelen Modified Tour champion Todd Szegedy has to be counted among the
favorites to take home the checkered flag. Being a former SK Modified®
driver at Stafford, Szegedy has track experience on his side, and he was
among the fastest cars that participated in an open test session with his #2
Wisk sponsored Ford.

COUNTRY MUSIC VOCALIST AJ JANSEN TO PERFORM NATIONAL ANTHEM AT CARQUEST TECH-NET SPRING SIZZLER
(Stafford Springs, CT)—The 40th Annual CARQUEST Tech-Net Spring Sizzler
will play host to country music artist AJ Jansen, “Country Music’s Rebel
Rose.” Jansen will perform the national anthem just prior to the 40-lap SK
Modified® feature event on Sunday, May 1st to kick off the day’s feature
races. Jansen will also be on hand during the CARQUEST Belts & Hose Pit
Party, performing some of her songs as part of the pre-race festivities.
Jansen hails from Connecticut and she has won several awards for her music.
Jansen won Best Female Modern Country Vocalist from the Connecticut Country
Music Association (CCMA) back in 2005. Also that year, she won Best
Recording for her original single, “Moments”, which is featured on the CCMA

5-TIME SK MODIFIED® CHAMPION BOB POTTER TO SERVE AS GRAND MARSHAL OF 40TH ANNUAL CARQUEST TECH-NET SPRING SIZZLER
(Stafford Springs, CT)—Stafford Motor Speedway has announced that 5-time
SK Modified® track champion Bob Potter will serve as the grand marshal of
the 40th Annual CARQUEST Tech-Net Spring Sizzler. 40 years after Potter
took the green flag in the very first Spring Sizzler and finished 9th, he
will send the Whelen Modified Tour field on its way this year with the most
famous words in motorsports, “Drivers start your engines.”
