Griffith Finishes 16th in PASS debut at Star SpeedwayThompson, Conn: Justin Bonsignore earned his second Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park victory this season behind the wheel of his NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour entry after taking the late race lead and holding on through two restarts in the Budweiser King of Beers 150. Kerry Malone led the way in NASCAR Whelen All American Series action with a convincing victory in the Sunoco Modified 30-lap feature event. Also picking up wins were Larry Gelinas in the Late Models, Eric Bourgeois in the Monster Mini Stock division and Corey Hutchings in the Xtra Mart Limited Sportsman division. Art Chartier won the Vintage Outlaw feature.

Thompson, CT- The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour (NWMT) returns to the historic Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park (TSMP) this week, for the Budweiser ‘King of Beers’ 150. Originally scheduled for Wednesday, August 13, the event will be rescheduled for Thursday, August 14 after a forecast for heavy rain on the day of the event.

The Budweiser ‘King of Beers’ 150 marks the 125th return of the NWMT to Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park. Franklin, MA native Bobby Santos will try to make it back to back victories at this event, as the driver of the Tinio Racing/ ImperialCars.com Chevrolet picked up the checkers in this event just a year ago. Santos, who has 4 career victories with the NWMT at Thompson Speedway, and sits third in the point standings entering the event, just 15 ticks off point leader Doug Coby. Coby is holding on to a slim lead over Justin Bonsignore, with Santos, Ted Christopher, and Ryan Preece third through fifth, respectively, in the standings. Bonsignore, from Holtsville, NY, already picked up a victory at TSMP earlier in the year at the Icebreaker in April. The Budweiser ‘King of Beers 150’ is the second of three stops for the NWMT at TSMP in the 2014 season.

Todd Szegedy, 2003 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Champion, will once again drive for Rob Fuller Motorsports. Szegedy has 18 career wins and 10 pole positions in the NWMT including three career victories at Thompson Speedway.

Sprint to the Sunoco Modified Championship Continues on Whelen Night at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park

Thompson, CT- The Sunoco Modifieds reclaim center stage at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park (TSMP) for their 20/20 Sprint event on Whelen Night, Wednesday, July 30th.

The unique format will feature a three segment race for the Sunoco Modifieds, with the lowest overall point total taking the victory. The first segment will be lined up from the results of the qualifiers, and will be 20 laps in distance. The second segment will be a complete inversion of lead lap cars setting the field, and will also consist of 20 laps. The third and final segment will be lined up by fastest lap times from the first segment, but will only be a 10 lap sprint for the win. “This format was used for the Late Models, and was a huge success,” states TSMP General Manager, Josh Vanada.
