THOMPSON, CT. The 2013 Thompson International Speedway racing schedule has been released. The track will host three NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour races, three Valenti Modified Racing Series events, the Granite State Pro Stocks, the Northern Mini Stock Tour, the New England Truck Series and other touring series in addition to a weekly Thursday night racing schedule that will run from May 31st through August 29th.
The 2013 season will open with the traditional Icebreaker on the weekend of April 13 & 14 and will end with the World Series of Speedway Racing slated for October 18th -20th. The WMT will top the billing at each of these events and will also return for the annual 150-lap August race.

New England’s largest short track to welcome Pro Stocks twice
THOMPSON, CT — The Granite State Pro Stock Series will make its inaugural appearance in the Constitution State in 2013 as the series will make two appearances at Thompson Speedway in Thompson, CT.
The Granite State Pro Stock Series will be part of the two premier weekends at the five-eighths mile oval, the IceBreaker, currently scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, April 13 and 14, and the World Series of Speedway Racing, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, October 19 and 20. Exact race dates and distances are expected to be finalized at a later date.

THOMPSON, CT. After 21 years of exemplary service, Ben Dodge Jr has left the Thompson International Speedway. Track management confirmed today that Dodge, a long-time leader in race track innovation, first worked at Thompson in the 1970s and returned in the late 1990s after nearly thirty years of running Riverside Park Speedway. During his tenure, Dodge led the track in a new direction and is credited with much of the success of the historic speedway during the last decade.

Thompson, Conn: Thompson International Speedway celebrated the 2012 season this weekend with two ceremonies honoring seven division champions in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series. Ryan Preece of Berlin, Conn. took center stage and was honored as the Sunoco Modified Champion on Saturday night while Late Model Champion Tommy O’Sullivan of Wilbraham, Mass. took top honors on Friday night.
Other champions honored Friday night included Limited Sportsman Champion Scott Sundeen of Douglas, Mass. and Mini Stock Champion Chad Baxter of Pascoag, RI. On Saturday night, Super Late Model Champion Derek Ramstrom of Worcester, Mass., Lite Modified Champion Cam McDermott of Scituate, RI, and Thompson Modified Champion John Lowinski-Loh, Jr. of Milford, Mass joined in celebrating their division titles.

THOMPSON, CT. The Thompson International Speedway is preparing to honor those who excelled in the racing competition during the 2012 season. The track’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Series featured seven different divisions of race cars competing at the historic speedway and the efforts of top finishing race teams will be rewarded on Friday, December 14th and Saturday, December 15th . These events will be held at the Raceway Restaurant and Lounge on the grounds of the Thompson Speedway.
Because of the large number of competitors that typically attend the track’s annual awards banquets, two nights have been set aside to accommodate all of those expected to be part of the gala celebrations. Friday’s banquet will spotlight the efforts of competitors in the track’s Late Model, Xtra Mart Limited Sportsman and Monster Mini Stock divisions. Saturday’s gathering will focus on the Sunoco Modifieds, Super Late Models, Thompson Modifieds and the LKQ/Keystone Lite Modifieds.

It is one of the largest and most diversified events of its kind held anywhere and it is this weekend, November 3rd and 4th, at the Thompson International speedway. For the 41st consecutive year, the speedway gates will open for Don Hoenig’s Original Automotive Swap Meet and Flea Market. This annual event draws some 1,500 dealers and literally thousands of buyers during the two-day event.
Nearly 100 acres of the sprawling Thompson International Speedway complex are filled with items of virtually every description. While primarily an automotive event, it has grown over the years to include much, much more than car and truck parts. Buyers will find a huge variety of new and used items for sale at more than reasonable prices. Race cars and parts, trucks, trailers, tools, crafts, motorcycles, ATVs, tires and wheels are just a few of the thousands of items displayed each year.
