Rocco Scores Thompson Thursday Night Mod Opener

Ramstrom, Gentes, J. Sundeen, Barnett & Field Also Victorious

Thompson, CT: (May 12, 2011) Keith Rocco of Wallingford, CT, held off Ted Christopher to score the victory in the Sunoco Modified feature event to open NASCAR Whelen All-American Series weekly racing action at Thompson International Speedway. Derek Ramstrom of Worcester, MA, was victorious in the Thursday Night Thompson Thunder Opener for the Super Late Models. Rick Gentes of Woonsocket, RI, was triumphant in Late Model action.

Jay Sundeen of Douglas, MA, wired the field to score the victory in the TIS Modifieds. Larry Barnett of Moosup, CT, the all-time winning most driver in the Limited Sportsman division, added to his tally with a victory on Thursday night. Danny Field of Deep River, CT, was tops in the Mini Stock main event; making it two-in-a-row for the Icebreaker winner.

THE annual Eve of Destruction at the Thompson International Speedway will soar to new heights when David “The Bullet” Smith, known as the Human Cannonball, gets shot high into the air from a cannon. Smith, who has performed over five thousand times around the world, is the highest flying Human Cannonball in the world. Smith’s astonishing performance is but one of many spectacular acts that will perform on Sunday, May 29th at the Speedway’s annual Eve of Destruction.

SUNOCO MODIFIEDS TO BENEFIT FROM BIG DOLLAR INCREASE THIS THURSDAY AT THOMPSON

THOMPSON, CT. The Sunoco Modified division will see a big increase in their race pay off this Thursday thanks to LaFramboise Well Drilling and Water Service of Thompson. The winner of this week’s 30-lap main event will receive $2,000.00 for their efforts and just about everyone else will see additional money thanks to the local well drilling and water service company. This race, like all at Thompson, is open to any Sunoco Modified type car that races in Connecticut.

FINAL OPEN PRACTICE SESSION SET FOR THURSDAY AT THOMPSON

The final open practice session before weekly racing begins will be held this Thursday between the hours of 4 PM and 8 PM at the Thompson International Speedway. This four hour session will afford race teams the opportunity to fine tune their race cars one week before the track begins its popular Thursday Night Thompson Thunder (TNTT) races on May 12th.

EXTRA CASH OFFERED FOR THOMPSON’S SUPER 6 RACING DIVISIONS

THOMPSON, CT. Thompson Speedway management has teamed with ten different companies to offer additional cash bonuses for competitors in each of the track’s weekly racing divisions. The all new and exciting program will start on opening night of Thursday Night Thompson Thunder (TNTT) events on May 12th.

A total of nearly ten thousand dollars will be distributed to competitors in various ways depending on the wishes of the companies that have enthusiastically joined Thompson’s efforts to put some extra cash into the pockets of loyal competitors. The firms participating in this all-new program have selected a racing division that they would like to assist and be associated with.
