(THOMPSON, CT) – Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park (TSMP), the famed 5/8-mile oval in Northeast Connecticut, announced the expansion of its NASCAR Whelen All-American Series schedule to 10 events in 2016. The announcement was greeted with excitement by many teams and drivers who are looking forward to competing in more races at the historic speedway. The schedule is highlighted by four NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour (NWMT) events, the return of the Triple Crown Championship for the Limited Sportsman and Mini Stock divisions, and the inaugural Fan and Driver appreciation month.

“We’re excited to release another creative oval schedule,” stated Josh Vanada, General Manager of TSMP. “We’re proud to showcase our talented drivers in three additional events. It’s a privilege for us to honor both our fans and drivers with their own special events in July. It’s the least we can do with their great support throughout our 75-year history. It will be an exciting year with traditional favorites and some new, exciting formats.”

(THOMPSON, CT) – Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park today expressed its deepest sympathies to the friends and family of a former track Champion Ron Bouchard. Bouchard was a regular competitor at Thompson from 1972 through 1980 and was a real fan favorite.

Donald J. Hoenig, a long-time friend of Bouchard, spoke for the track when he said that everyone at the Thompson Speedway was deeply saddened by his passing. “He was not only a wonderful personal friend, but was a marvelous driver and a great golfing companion”, said Hoenig.

Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park celebrated the 2015 oval track season this weekend at Mohegan Sun at its annual award ceremony honoring four division champions in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series. Woody Pitkat celebrated his 2nd Sunoco Modified title, while Scott Sundeen was honored as a 4-time Xtra Mart Limited Sportsman champion. Late Model driver Brian Tagg and Mini Stock competitor Dave Trudeau each took home their first career championship.

(THOMPSON, CT) – Thompson Speedway Motorsports announced today a new 2016 season pass program that will be available for purchase beginning Friday, Nov. 27. The passes will be sold at a special Black Friday discount from Friday through Monday, Nov. 30. This exciting new program gives loyal fans and teams the ability to purchase paddock passes or general admission tickets for select events at huge discounts.

The Platinum Paddock Pass offers the ultimate package for the racing enthusiast, including general admission and paddock access to all oval and road course events to be held in the 2016 season. With a minimum of 18 races already scheduled for next year, this option is a great way to enjoy everything that TSMP has to offer, including four NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour races, all NASCAR Whelen All-American Series events, the Historic Oval Invitational, the Vintage Motorsports Festival, Open Wheel Weekend, SCCA races and more. The Platinum Paddock Pass will be on sale for Black Friday for $399 from Friday, Nov. 27 to Monday, Nov. 30, 2015. The price for the pass from Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015 to March 31, 2016 will be $449. Randy Cabral pulled off “one for the ages” coming from last place in the NEMA feature to
pass teammate Todd Bertrand on the last lap at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park’s
Sunoco World Series of Racing this past Saturday evening. In Lites action, Scott Bigelow
dominated the feature event, despite a late race charge from John Zych Jr. Zych, the
night before, was crowned the NEMA champion for 2015, and his father, John Zych Sr. the
owner’s champion. In the Lites division, Anthony Payne won his first series championship
and Bigelow won the car owners title.

In the NEMA feature, Todd Bertrand jumped out into the lead in the Tim Bertrand owned
#74 machine. He quickly paced the field, pulling out to nearly a half straightaway lead
at one poiNt. Further back, John Zych Jr. had charged from his ninth starting spot to
take over the second spot by lap eight. Randy Cabral, who started scratch on the field,
was also making his way through the field and would reach the third spot by lap
thirteen.

Thompson, CT – Williston, VT’s Brian Hoar perhaps ended the most accomplished career in American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Model history on top once again by winning the World Series 100 at Connecticut’s Thompson Motor Speedway on Saturday, October 17. Meanwhile, Dover, NH’s Wayne Helliwell Jr. added another notch to his belt by clinching his third ACT Tour Championship in four years.

Hoar was running second on a restart with eight laps remaining when leader Dillon Moltz lost control as the field came to the green. Although Hoar was able to get by, third-place Joey Polewarczyk Jr. could not and plowed in, with Walter Sutcliff getting collected as well.
