Naples ME (8/31) While the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) super late model race teams are prepping for the return of oval track racing to North Wilkesboro (NC) Speedway this weekend, there’ another big weekend of racing on the horizon when the PASS Super Late Models, Mods and Sportsman take to another history-laden venue in the form of Maine’s Beech Ridge Motor Speedway on September 11 and 12.

Steve Carrier tops Beech Ridge winners, season finale on tap Saturday night.

Scarborough, Maine- Steve Carrier led all 40 laps of the NASCAR Pro Series feature race Saturday night at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway. It was the third win of the season for Carrier who jumped into the lead from the outside pole position. Chris Thorne gave early chase but surrendered the second place position to Bill Whorff on lap 3. With Carrier in front and pulling away, the focus turned to the race for second place as Whorff and Thorne were side by side for second and third while Mike Rowe and David Oliver were side by side for fourth and fifth. Carrier cruised home for the win but the race for the all important point positions went to the wire for second through fifth. At the checkered flag Chris Thorne edged Bill Whorff for second as Whorff got third. David Oliver nipped Mike Rowe for fourth shifting Rowe to fifth at the finish.

Scarborough,Maine-Charlie Colby scored his second NASCAR Pro Series 40 lap feature race win on Saturday night at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway. Don Colpritt, Randy Snow and Matt Dow were also feature winners. Colby jumped into the lead at the drop of the green flag and appeared to be headed for an easy win. Scott Moore thought otherwise and moved inside of the leader on lap 20 as Colby hung tough to his outside. Moore led laps 20 thru 23 and Then Colby went back in front of the field. Bill Rodgers arrived on the scene to challenge Colby over the final laps but Colby would take the win by a car length over Rodgers as the checkered flag waved. Moore was third with David Oliver and Bill Whorff Jr fourth and fifth.

Scarborough,Maine- Some of the best racing in it’s history continues to be displayed at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, and Saturday night was a continuation of that as David Oliver, Jason Larrabee, Brian Caswell and Ryan Phillips all scored feature race victories. The NASCAR Pro Series 40 lap main event turned out to be a spectacular race as no less than 4 drivers battled for the win. Charlie Colby led the opening 3 laps before giving way to Chris Thorne. Thorne who was looking for his first Beech Ridge win, stayed in front as Scott Moore and David Oliver applied pressure to him. The caution flag waved on lap 24 but on the restart Thorne shot back to the lead with Moore, Oliver and Bill Rodgers all right behind. The final caution on lap 28 set the stage for the dazzling finish as Thorne again went back in front with Oliver second. Thorne stayed in the high groove and Oliver took the low groove and for the next 10 laps ran side by side for the lead with Bill Rodgers and Dan McKeage side by side for third and fourth right behind them. Thorne led lap 38 and Oliver led lap 39 setting the stage for a dash to the checkered flag. Exiting the final turn on the final lap, Thorne didn’t get the grip and Oliver did as he got to the finish line just inches ahead of Thorne for the win. Bill Rodgers nosed out Dan McKeage for third as McKeage extended his point lead with fourth. Mike Rowe took the fifth position. (more…)

Bill Whorff wins first Beech Ridge Motor Speedway feature

Scarborough,Maine- Since joining the ranks of Beech Ridge Motor Speedway Pro Series drivers in 2009, Bill Whorff has seen his share of struggles trying to get around the Scarborough oval. Whorff found himself in the right position on Saturday night to take advantage of circumstances and drove to the victory in the 40 lap NASCAR Pro Series event. Gunnar Josselyn led the opening lap of the race but on the second go sround Josselyn bobbbled exiting turn two and the whole pack of cars behind him started to pile up. (more…)

Charlie Colby and Kari Thibodeau pick up first Beech Ridge victories

Scarborough,Maine-Charlie Colby joined the ranks of the NASCAR Pro Series drivers this season at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway and Saturday night the move paid off handsomely as Colby entered victory lane following the 40 lap main event. Keith McKinnon led the field to the green flag and led the opening 7 laps. Colby quickly moved around McKinnon to take the lead position on the next circuit and began to pull away from the field. Jay Sands moved to second place at the mid point of the race and Mike Rowe took third but Colby was too far in front for them to make a run. This was Charlie Colby’s first feature win at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway. Steve Carrier finished fourth and Aaron Ricker was fifth. (more…)
