Carey Martin Prevails in PASS Sportsman Special
TJ Brackett of Buckfield extended his lead in the Oxford Plains Speedway Pro Late Model Championship Series point standings, posting his first win of the season on Friday night.
Brackett’s win was particularly-rewarding, as he outgunned his father, former OPS track champion Timmy Brackett, an Oxford native now also living in Buckfield, for top honors.
“That was as much fun as I’ve ever had in a racecar,” the winner told the crowd from victory lane. “I’ve never had the chance to race Dad for the win.
“Next time it’s mine” the elder Brackett chimed in.

Oxford Plains Speedway: Chris Coolidge
Oxford Championship Series Race Preview
THE STORY
NORWAY, Maine – Chris Coolidge of Norway, Maine, heads back to Oxford Championship Series competition when the Pro Late Model division returns following an off-weekend for a 40-lap feature at Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, Maine, on Friday, May 31. Coolidge climbed to 10th in the point standings after a strong performance last time out in which he lead 35 laps before being collected by a lapped car heading to the checkered flag on the final lap. The No. 72 Bill’s Automotive/Lloyd’s Land Chevrolet made some significant gains with the car’s handling just prior to that most recent event on May 17, and Coolidge believes the car will perform more consistently this weekend.

Oxford Plains Speedway Race Preview
THE STORY

Oxford Championship Series: Chris Coolidge
Oxford Plains Speedway Race Report
OXFORD, Maine – Chris Coolidge of Norway, Maine, finished 12th in the Oxford Championship Series 40-lap Pro Late Model feature at Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, Maine, on Friday, May 17. One of Coolidge’s best runs in the last three seasons came to a disappointing end when, while battling for the lead, he was collected by a spinning lapped car off the final corner on the final lap. Coolidge led 35 laps after starting third in the 16-car field and taking over the top spot on Lap 4. The No. 72 Bill’s Automotive/Lloyd’s Land Chevrolet built a lead of more than a straightaway during the middle stages of the event, but the car’s handling went away in the closing laps and allowed the cars chasing Coolidge to close in on him. A chance at his first career Pro Late Model podium finish disappeared when he stopped just inches short of the frontstretch wall while trying to avoid a wrecking competitor.
