Trevor Sanborn: Beech Ridge Motor Speedway Sanborn Wins 2nd Straight Outing At The Ridge

SCARBOROUGH, Maine — Trevor Sanborn continued his dominance of the 2010 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series season at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway on Saturday night, winning the track’s 40-lap Pro Series feature. It was Sanborn’s second straight victory to open the season at Beech Ridge, and his 10th career Pro Series win. The race was shortened by rain to 39 laps, and it was unfortunately marked by the untimely passing of multi-time track champion Bub Bilodeau. Bilodeau, an early mentor of Sanborn’s racing career, suffered a heart attack following the event while still in his race car.

PUTTING THE PUZZLE PIECES TOGETHER

PUTTING THE PUZZLE PIECES TOGETHER
Circumstances allow Austin Theriault to seize opportunities in racing

FORT KENT, Maine — Austin Theriault remembers with a laugh his first spin behind the wheel of a stock car.

“It was the ‘Young Guns’ class,” the 16-year-old high school sophomore recalls. “What I remember was how those guys took racing so seriously. They were going circles around me. My left front tire was 4 inches up off the ground.”

What Theriault has learned since that firsthand introduction to the sport was that soon he would take a racing career just as seriously. Just 12 months ago, Theriault never imagined anything more than running in the weekly 4-cylinder division at Spud Speedway in Caribou. Fast-forward to 2010, though, and Theriault plans to run the complete ACT Late Model Tour slate and select PASS North Series events.

“Looking back just a year ago, it all happened pretty quick,” Theriault said. “The biggest thing is just the good people I’ve been meeting along the way… I’ve gone from a little 4-cylinder car a couple years ago to Super Late Models, and it’s just the right people we’ve been lucky enough to have met, I guess.

Wiscasset Raceway Results 5-30-10

OFFICIAL RACING RESULTS MAY 30, 2010

(Wiscasset, ME) Sunday at The Center of Speed, Dave St. Clair told Doug White, owner of the Wiscasset Raceway, that he would need to win at least one race every season to keep bring his car to the track. It looks like we’ll have racing legend Boss Hog around for the rest of 2010 as he takes the checkered flag in the Steel’s Real Rods & Customs Late Model Sportsman feature.

The LMS feature was an exciting race with Buxton’s Danny Smart leading most of the way. Boss Hog in the #14 car kept trying the outside line but was held off by the #6. Lots of door to door racing for the lead on Sunday! There were also great battles in the pack with Rowland “Rockin’” Robinson, Nick Hinkley and Josh St. Clair all fighting for a top spot. Then one of those tough moments in racing, the #6 car was pulling away on the front stretch when the back end got loose and put Danny Smart into a slide. Boss Hog pulled into the lead and kept it to the checkered flag. Danny Smart in the #6 car had a nice recovery and battled back into the top 5.
