Theriault Sets Sights On Winchester
BKR Driver Sees Improvement Following 6th In Alabama 200
FORT KENT, Maine – Austin Theriault may have been disappointed to finish sixth in the Southern Super Series Alabama 200 last Saturday at Montgomery Motor Speedway, but he was encouraged by what he saw over the course of the weekend.
The only thing that kept the Fort Kent, Maine, native from posting a Top-3 finish was a flat left front tire in the closing stages of the event. Leading up to that, however, the Brad Keselowski Racing development driver was fast throughout practice, qualifying and the main event.

JIMMY CHILDS BRINGS HOME FIRST SEASON WIN AT WISCASSET

Wiscasset Speedway had a lot of action last Saturday. On the roster was its group two lineup of divisions: Strictly Street, Mini Truck, Outlaw Mini’s, and Late Model Sportsman. The Wicked Good Vintage Racers were the flex race of the week. The bright lights of Wiscasset lit up the track just as the feature racing began. At the conclusion of six exciting races, the crowd cheered as the sky was lit up once again with a spectacular display of fireworks compliments of Central Maine Pyrotechnics.
First on the track were two Wicked Good Vintage Racer (WGVR) features. The first division was a twenty lap Late Model WGVR feature. In the pole position was the No. 87 driven by Larry Wade. Behind him was the No. 97 of Dean Grant and Scott Tucker’s No. OJR. There was an early caution in the race, and when the dust cleared, the No. 151 of Rose Gerry had moved to first. In second was the No. M16 of Mark Thurlow. Grant was in third place.

CODY ROBBINS AND GARETT HAYMAN SHARE BOMBER SPOTLIGHT
Milford’s Garett Hayman led all 30 laps of the Bomber Division series race #3 and took the win after starting on the pole. Cody Robbins of Montville challenged Hayman hard through two restarts in the closing laps and finished second in the night’s race, and also won the 3 race Bomber series points title. Amy Houde of Howland, who won last Wednesday night’s Ladies Division feature, finished the night’s Bomber race third in the 13 car field. Brewer’s Sam Betts and Carmel’s Denis Burns finished in fourth and fifth respectively. Burns finished second in the series points race, with Scott Bonney of Bangor finishing third.
Andy Saunders of Ellsworth led from the pole to the checkers in the caution free 40 lap Dysart’s Late Model feature with Rookie Andrew McLaughlin of Harrington chasing him for the entire distance and finishing second. Third went to Winterport’s Ryan Deane who was catching the two leaders but ran out of time as the checkers fell. Last week’s winner John Kalel II of Orrington finished a strong fourth with Duane Seekins of Stockton Springs finishing fifth.

THE STORY
FORT KENT, Maine – Austin Theriault of Fort Kent, Maine, rejoins the Southern Super Series as it heads to the 49th annual Alabama 200 at Montgomery Motor Speedway in Montgomery, Ala., on Saturday, August 24. Theriault has never visited the semi-banked half-mile oval, but the Brad Keselowski Racing development driver has made three Southern Super Series starts this season and has yet to finish outside the Top-10 in any of them. In his most recent start in the BKR No. 29 Checkered Flag Foundation Ford Fusion, Theriault finished fifth in the prestigious World Crown 300 at Gresham Motorsports Park in Jefferson, Ga., earlier this month. Theriault has posted four consecutive Top-5 finishes in his starts for BKR heading into Montgomery, and in his last 10 races this season with the team he has six Top-5s and 10 Top-10s.

Roger Smith Jr. of Clifton started out the night four points behind Shawn Racila of Dover-Foxcroft in the Big Enduro points standings on the final night of racing for the 2013 season, but won the title by 6 points by winning both the 10 lap qualifier and the 25 lap series #3 feature while Racila finished second in the qualifier and fifth in the feature. Racila was far enough ahead in the series points standings to win that contest by 2 points over Smith. Shawn MacNevin of Hudson raced side by side and nose to tail with Smith over the final laps of the feature, but finished second when the checkered flag fell. Duane Dunifer of Carmel was third, followed by Woody Davis of Glenburn in fourth and Racila in fifth.
In the Sinclair Towing Service Pick-up trucks, Jason Haskell of Levant shook the monkey off his back from last week and led the 20 lap feature from the green to the checkers. Jeff Overlock Jr. of Hermon finished second, with Jim Carr Jr. of Clifton in third. Carr picked up the points championship for the season, his fifth in the last 8 years. Dana Harlow of Bucksport was fourth with Corinth’s Peter Drake finishing fifth.
