Oxford, ME. – Rowan Pennink of Huntingdon Valley, PA, passed race leader Anthony Nocella, of Woburn, MA, on lap 76, and went on to score his second win of the season Saturday night, July 20, at Oxford Plains Speedway, Oxford, ME. The Valenti Modified Racing Series sanctioned race was part of the 40th annual TD Bank 250 weekend.
Pennink becomes the sixth different VMRS winner at Oxford and he joins Tommy Barrett, of Millis, MA, with two wins.
Pennink started 16th in a field of 21 cars, calculated his strategy with spotter Brian Crowley perfectly to position himself for a race-leading pass on the 76th circuit.
Two laps later Pennink had his hands full as Richard Savary, of Canton, MA, chased after the leader right to the finish. In lapped traffic, Savary twice pulled alongside Pennink.

Scarborough, ME- Saturday’s NASCAR Nite Pro Series 40-lap feature event was won by veteran Mike Rowe, of Turner.
At the drop of the green, Jeff Fagan, of Waltham, MA, paced the 19-car field to the green flag and led the race until a caution on lap two bunched the 19-car field back together. On the restart, Saco’s Steve Carrier gained an advantage going into the corner and safely passed Fagan for the lead.
Carrier led until a caution flew at the halfway mark. The caution was helpful for Rowe who started 12th and worked his way into the top three by lap 20.
On the restart, Carrier chose the outside lane, which was unsuccessful as Rowe was able to maneuver his way by him for the lead from the inside rail. Rowe then opened up a multiple car length advantage and never looked back. He led the remaining 15 laps on his way to his second victory of the season.

Sam Betts of Brewer picked up his first win of the season in the Little Enduros at Speedway 95 Wednesday night as he led the field from the green to the checkers. Only one caution flag slowed the field when Henry Boudreau Jr. of Winterport slid high out of turn four and made contact with the front stretch wall. Travis Beale of Hampden ran close to Betts for the final three laps but was unable to pass for the lead Beale finished second with Dixmont’s Rick Gomm in third.
Amy Houde of Howland led the entire distance in the Ladies series event, finishing ahead of Hermon’s Rhonda Wilbur and Milo’s Erin Evans. The event went the entire distance without a caution, allowing Houde to stretch her lead to about three car lengths at the finish.
