Austin Theriault BKR Development Driver Makes Last-Lap Pass For Dillon Victory
DILLON, South Carolina – Austin Theriault of Fort Kent, Maine, took the lead in the final corner of the final lap en route to victory in the PASS South Series season-opening South Carolina Clash 150 at Dillon Motor Speedway in Dillon, S.C., on Saturday, March 9. The Brad Keselowski Development driver battled door-to-door with Preston Peltier over the final few yards to win the drag race to the checkered flag.
The victory was the first for Theriault with Brad Keselowski Racing and his second consecutive victory in PASS-sanctioned competition after winning the 2012 PASS North Series season finale at Oxford Plains Speedway last October in a family-owned car.

Theriault Nips Peltier For History Making Win In PASS South Opener at Dillon

DILLON, SC (March 9) – Austin Theriault led less than a hundred feet to edge out former Pro All Stars Series (PASS) National Champion Preston Peltier in a photo finish to win the 8th Annual South Carolina Clash 150 at Dillon Motor Speedway. Theriault’s .120 second margin of victory in the PASS South season opener was the closest margin in series history. Theriault and Peltier made contact coming out of turn four racing to the checkered flag as they both maneuvered to pass the lapped machine of John Hunter Nemechek with Theriault just having enough to eke out the victory.

Don Wentworth Ready For Next Chapter
Oxford Plains Veteran Set To Tackle New Pro Late Model Division
SOUTH PARIS, Maine – Don Wentworth can’t remember exactly how many years he’s been competing at the short track right in his backyard, but it’s safe to say he’s probably never been more excited about the start of a season than he his now.
“Absolutely,” said Wentworth, of Otisfield, Maine, who will return to Oxford Plains Speedway to compete in the track’s new Pro Late Model division in 2013. “I’m really looking forward to it. I can’t wait to get started.”
During the offseason, Wentworth hired Crazy Horse Racing to help him build a brand new chassis. He sold the Late Model he’d competed with at Oxford in recent years with his heart set on spending this winter on the new car. (more…)

Dirty Dozen Late Model Series: Reid Lanpher
Southern Nat’l Motorsports Park Race Report
LUCAMA, N.C. – Reid Lanpher of Manchester, Maine, posted a pair of finishes in the top half of a stout Late Model field in his debut with JR Motorsports at Southern National Motorsports Park. Lanpher, 14, finished 11th and 12th at the Dirty Dozen Twin 100s in the No. 8 JRM Chevrolet. After time-trialing for the first time in his career, Lanpher started the first 100-lap Late Model Stock event 14th in the 26-car field and worked his way into the Top-10 before settling for 11th following a final late-race restart. In the second event of the afternoon, he started 11th and fell back as far as 18th following a communication miscue on a restart but recovered to drive back up to 12th – ahead of the reigning NASCAR Whelen All-American Series national champion – without the benefit of getting four fresh tires following the first race, per event rules. THE STORY
MANCHESTER, Maine – Reid Lanpher of Manchester, Maine, will make his debut with JR Motorsports this Saturday, March 2, in the Southern National Motorsports Park Twin 125s – the first event of the 12-race “Dirty Dozen” Late Model series in Lucama, N.C. The 14-year-old Lanpher will drive the No. 8 JRM Chevrolet for the team owned by NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. on the .4-mile banked oval. It will mark Lanpher’s first career Late Model start after making a handful of appearances in a Super Late Model last season. The “Dirty Dozen” consists of 12 races – six each at Southern National and Motor Mile Speedway in Virginia.

As a Nor’ Easter blankets New England the NELCAR “Winter Storm” is ready for the 2013 race season. Dan Winter and some of his fellow drivers from the NELCAR Legends Tour were on hand for the “Racin’ Preview” in Portland, Maine.
Though the Amsoil NELCAR legends haven’t been racing the last few months, the drivers have been busy getting ready for Opening Day at Wiscasset Speedway on April 6th. “This offseason we’ve been mostly getting the cars cleaned up and ready for the 2013 season.”
