Six time Pro Stock champion Fred Astle Jr jumped out front early, and held of challenges from Kevin Casper and Dave Darling to pick up a thrilling win. Ken Spencer took off from his outside pole position start, and set the pace for the first several laps. Astle moved his way through the pack using the inside lane, making some daring moves, and quickly closed in on the K. Spencer Electric machine. Astle moved past Kyle Casper and pole sitter Phil Meany by lap 8, and quickly found his way past Spencer on lap 10.
While Astle was able to open up a 6 car length lead, Kevin Casper moved into second, and started to close in the distance to the leader. As the laps reached the ¾ mark, Casper was hounding the Wood Frame Structures Chevy, and tried everything he could to put his Phil’s Propane Ford out front. While the pair raced hard, Rehoboth’s Dave Darling was breaking free from the pack, and hunting down the lead duo. As they crossed the line with just 5 laps to go, Darling moved his Bristol Toyota Scion Camry to the outside, and went to work. At the white flag mark, Darling was even with Casper, and as they raced into turn three on the final lap, he tried one last move, but came up .163 short for his second win of the season. Casper held on for third, just .164 behind Astle. Ryan Vanasse and Mike Brightman rounded out the top five.

Mike Brightman of Acushnet shook off the bad week two he had, and bounced back to pick up his first win of the season in the A.R.C. Pro Stocks. Brightman started third on the grid, and ran there for the first several laps, until Tom Scully Jr and Fred Astle made contact, sending both to the rear. On the restart, Mighty Mike was able to move his Impact Collision Parts Ford past Dick Houlihan, and then slid under polesitter and leader Ken Spencer, Once out front, there was no looking back for the former Late Model Champion.
Kevin Casper had his best run in the Pro Stocks, picking up the second spot. At one point, he fell back to third, when Tom Scully Jr slid by, but was able to move his Phil’s Propane Ford back by the Jr Scully. While he was able to close the distance a bit on Brightman, he was unable to get past. Scully Jr held on for third, while Dave Darling and Ryan Vanasse rounded out the top five. Both Darling and Vanasse had to come from the back after a lap nine spin sent both drivers out of contention.

Bobby Pelland III, Mike Cavallaro and Paul Lallier also win
Warwick RI’s Ryan Vanasse has been one of the hottest drivers at Seekonk Speedway over the past three plus seasons. In that time, he has won two Late Model Championships, as well as over 15 feature wins, including a division record of 11 in 2011. This year, Ryan made the full time move back to the Pro Stocks, and has continued his momentum.
Ryan moved into the lead early on, after a hard fought battle with Tom Scully Jr, and held on to win the Pro Stock main event. His win was not without concern, however. While leading, he made contact with the lapped car of Danny Cabral. Many thought that he may have bent something in the front suspension. No damage was done, and he was able to hold on through a couple of late race restarts. Tom Scully Jr of Cranston RI held on for second, with Rehoboth’s Dave Darling, Westport’s Fred Astle Jr and Kevin Casper of Somerset rounding out the top five.
