Todd Petschke and Matt Morrill Break Through at Big Daddy’s Speedbowl
Mid-State Trucking Modified driver Todd Petschke (09) finally put together a second half to a race that matched his first half. He led from Green to Checkers and took home the big Ed Tobin Car Crushing trophy for Sunday, July 25. It was a wild Modified feature with lots of bumping and banging that will have a number of drivers doing repairs for next week. Trever Rocke (63) survived to finish second, with Chad Turck (56) taking third.
Chief Starter and track Educational Director Ray Moses said that the word of the week was “Disappointment,” and this was something felt by a good many drivers this Sunday afternoon. One was James Capps of the Mods, whose #64 was running near the front much of the feature, but was involved in a wreck late in the race.

Cayea smokes Airborne Mods for 1st career win
South Plattsburgh – Chris Cayea of Mooers pulled away from the field with the Begor’s Supply No. 18 in the closing laps of the 30-lap Modified main event to claim his first career win at Airborne Speedway.
Cayea’s win came soon after Jamy Begor had held off Bucko Branham to score his first win of the season in the J&S Steel Sportsman feature.
Cayea started on the outside of early leader Andy Heywood after a red flag was thrown on lap when Todd Ormsby spun out and flames appeared underneath his car. Heywood soon began losing the handle and Cayea snatched the lead on lap 18 while Craig Reyell, Bryant Trim and Jason Durgan battled hard for second. That trio managed to stop point leader Patrick Dupree’s run to the front from 14th. Dupree got a wheel under Durgan for fourth, but Durgan regained the spot and eventually wound up third at Trim’s bumper.
