Pit Strategy Goes Awry For Fadden Racing’s Jonathan Smith At LRP
Lakeville, Conn. (July 5, 2010): A mid-race pit strategy foiled a top-10 run for Fadden Racing’s Jonathan Smith in the NASCAR K&N 100 at Lime Rock Park Saturday afternoon, and relegated the No. 61 BaBoom! Energy Spray/Riondo Wine/Athlete’s of America Chevrolet to a 13th place finish after a solid performance race long.
“We were hoping to do a fuel mileage race and not pit, but it didn’t turn out like we thought. There were a lot of green flag laps. We came in to pit and right after that there was a six or seven lap caution period.”
Smith proved he was going to be a force to reckon with from the onset of the weekend. He was fast in practice and backed it up with a qualifying effort of 94.947 mph to earn a 12th place position on the starting grid.

Lakeville, Conn. (July 3, 2010): DJ Shaw has been to Lime Rock plenty of times before. But he’s never driven on the 1.53-mile road course – not in a test, and certainly not in a race. In fact, he’s never competed on any road course before. Still, the 20-year-old Center Conway, N.H. driver was able to transition to the tricky left and right handers that road course racing demands, and post a 14th place finish in the NASCAR K&N 100 at Lime Rock Park.
