The Thompson Speedway announced that the 2013 NASCAR All-American Series awards banquet will be held on Friday, November 29th. All of Thompson’s five NWAAS divisions will be honored that night with awards going to competitors that finished in the top ten in each division’s final standings.
Topping the list will be the NASCAR Division 1 Sunoco Modified champion Keith Rocco. The 2013 championship is his fourth Thompson division title. He previously won the crown in 2007, 2009 and again in 2011. Multi-time Late Model champ Rick Gentes will receive his fifth Thompson championship award. Gentes is one of only three drivers to attain five track championships. He won titles in 1996, 1997, 2007, 2010 and again in 2013.

Barre, VT – A total of 46 American Canadian Tour Late Models were in attendance at Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, VT for Friday’s (October 4) practice session in anticipation of the 51st People’s United Bank Milk Bowl. Practice was delayed and started around 1:30pm due to some showers. The session was extended until 6:00pm to give teams time to get comfortable on the new American Racer tires.
A diverse group of competitors ran near the top of the speed charts all day. Former Milk Bowl Champions Jean-Paul Cyr, Brent Dragon, Brian Hoar, Joey Polewarczyk, Jr., Cris Michaud and Dave Pembroke were among them. Several drivers looking for their first career Milk Bowl wins also turned quick laps, including Chip Grenier, Trampas Demers, 2013 Thunder Road Champion Derrick O’Donnell, Cody Blake, Nick Sweet and Stacy Cahoon. A contingent of Quebec stars was also quick in the practice sessions. Alex Labbe and three-time Milk Bowl Champion Patrick Laperle led the way with Alex Labbe, Jonathan Bouvrette and Stephane Descoste not far behind. (more…)

Waterford Speedbowl’s Finale, Oct. 5-6, begins the traditional “stretch run” for the Northeastern Midget Association. Point races take center stage as both NEMA and the NEMA Lites have places on Waterford’s two-day season-ender.
John Zych Jr., a four-time winner this season, will take a 17-point edge on four-time and defending champion Randy Cabral of Kingston in Sunday’s 25-lap feature. It is NEMA’s fourth visit to the Speedbowl this season.
The Lites point race – three-time winner Carl Mederios Jr. is 51 up on Marshfield’s Danny Cugini – could well be decided in Saturday’s 25-lap Lites feature. Both NEMA and the Lites will qualify on Saturday.

It was day one of the two day affair at Oxford Plains Speedway, known as P.A.S.S. Championship Weekend. On this night, the Oxford Acceleration Series took center stage with four divisions in action on Ripley and Fletcher Ford night. Winners included Kyle Hewins, Nate Dubuc, Chad Binette, and Rachel Dubois.
The premiere division of the night was the 50 lap Outlaw feature event. By virtue of the heads-up start format Kyle Hewins started on the pole and never wavered the entire event. Hewins was dogged for more than 30 laps by Troy Jordan and Jonah Farrington. With five laps to go Jordan dove underneath Hewins in turn three and looked to make the pass, but unfortunately a lapped car spun directly in front of the leaders, and Jordan, with nowhere to go, crashed his mount out of the feature event. On the restart, Hewins got the jump and never looked back. Chris Burgess raced home second ahead of Kyle Treadwell, Farrington and Matt Dufault. Heat checkers flew for Hewins and Farrington.

Waterbury, VT – The Peoples United Bank Milk Bowl at Thunder Road on Sunday, October 6, 2013 will welcome back nine (9) former champions of the prestigious event, billed as the ‘toughest short track race in North America’. Between the nine former champions who will compete in the 51st running of the Milk Bowl is a group of champions who have earned the right to lift the legendary milk can 15 times.
Eight (8) time ACT Champion Brian Hoar from Williston, VT and four (4) time ACT Champion Patrick Laperle (three Série ACT and one US title) each have won the race three (3) times and will be looking to tie Robbie Crouch’s record of four (4) Milk Bowl victories. “It really is unique in racing. First, it’s not 150 or 200 laps of straight racing. Next, it is Thunder Road, which is a challenge in any race, and finally, there are going to be 20-plus ‘regular weekly’ Thunder Road teams who race 50-lap segments every Thursday night. All these factors make it a very tough race. I love it. It is old-fashioned, get-up-on-the-wheel, hold-your-breath and hang on,” said Hoar.
