Dave Pembroke Claims 50th Milk Bowl Pole

Therrien and Hodgdon Claim Tiger and Street Segment Wins

Barre, VT – Two-time Thunder Road Late Model Champion Dave Pembroke of Middlesex, VT claimed the Booth Bros./H.P. Hood Pole Award and will lead the 30 car field to green in the 50th People’s United Bank Milk Bowl at Thunder Road. Pembroke set the fast time of 12.956 during Saturday’s (Sept. 29) qualifying to just edge out three-time Milk Bowl Champion Brian Hoar of Williston, VT.

2012 Thunder Road Champion Nick Sweet of Barre, VT, Fort Kent, ME’s Austin Theriault and three-time Thunder Road Champion Cris Michaud won the three Triple 50 qualifiers and will complete the top five in the starting line-up for segment #1. Cody Blake, Travis Fadden, Joey Polewarczyk, Jr., Trampas Demers and Brooks Clark will start in the top ten.

Austin Theriault Hopes To Etch His Name In Milk Bowl History Books

Austin Theriault of Fort Kent, Maine, will try and etch his name in the history books when he heads to Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, Vt., for the 50 annual People’s United Milk Bowl on Sunday, September 30. The 18-year-old Brad Keselowski Racing development driver has qualified twice for the Milk Bowl in as many attempts, and he’s hoping that the AT Racing No. 57 Pelletier Ford Ford Fusion will be in contention for the overall win in the unique, three-segment event. Theriault has finished inside the Top-10 on both ACT Late Model Tour events at Thunder Road this season, including a fifth-place finish in the Labor Day Classic 200 on Sunday, September 2.

Late Model Teams Prepare for 50th Milk Bowl

Barre, VT – Over 30 American Canadian Tour Late Model teams took advantage of a Late Model only practice session at Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, VT on Friday, September 28. Competitors dodged the rain drops to get in valuable laps in preparation for Saturday’s (Sept. 29) Booth Bros./H.P. Hood Qualifying day for the 50th People’s United Bank Milk Bowl on Sunday (Sept. 30).

East Montpelier, VT’s Cris Michaud, the 2004 Milk Bowl Champion, set the fast time of the day with a 13.093. Also near the top of the speed charts were current ACT point leader Wayne Helliwell, Jr. of Dover, NH, Austin Theriault of Fort Kent, ME, St. Johnsbury, VT’s Stacy Cahoon, and two-time Milk Bowl Champion Phil Scott of Berlin, VT.

Brian Hoar of Williston, Vt., will attempt to become only the second four-time champion of the prestigious People’s United Milk Bowl on Sunday, September 30, at Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, Vt. Hoar, who is the reigning Milk Bowl champion, won the event in back-to-back seasons of 1998-199 and will try and join Robbie Crouch as the event’s only four-time winner of the unique, three-segment event. Hoar and the RPM Motorsports No. 37 GossCars.com Dodge Charger team won both ACT Late Model Tour events at Thunder Road this season, including the Labor Day Classic 200 on September 2.

Lonnie Sommerville of Saint John, New Brunswick, heads to the PASS North Series season finale in the PASS 150 at Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, Maine, on Sunday, September 30. Sommerville and the Mulkern Racing No. 48 A.E. McKay Builders/Southern Maine Motors Chevrolet sits fifth in the overall PASS North Series standings with the final race of the season remaining, and the team is hoping to cap 2012 with its first win of the season. Sommerville – who enters the weekend off a seventh-place finish last weekend at White Mountain Motorsports Park – posted a pair of Top-10 finishes at Oxford in 2011, including a seventh-place effort in the 2011 season finale won by his car owner and teammate, Scott Mulkern.

Excitement building for 50th annual Milk Bowl at Thunder Road

BARRE, Vt. — It’s known as the one of the toughest short track races in the nation, and this year’s edition is going to be very special for a number of reasons.

Race fans around the northeast are gearing up for a very special weekend in Vermont on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 29-30, as officials at Barre’s famed Thunder Road International Speedbowl present the 50th annual People’s United Bank Milk Bowl.

With its three-segment, Monza- style format with an inverted field after each stint, the Milk Bowl is without argument the biggest annual challenge for any driver who earns a coveted starting position.
