Dave Darling, Bill Bernard, Craig Pianka and Darryl Church are Bald Hill Dodge night winners at Seekonk Speedway.
Dave Darling rolled to his fourth Pro Stock win of the season, extending his championship lead in his quest for his third title. Ryan Vanasse took the lead on the opening lap after squeezing in between Phil Meany and Kevin Folan. Once out front, Vanasse seemed to pull away from the pack with ease, opening up a ¾ straightaway lead at one point.
Tom Scully Jr sat in the runner up position, and tried to hang onto the A&A Auto Parts Chevy, but had heavy pressure from Mike Brightman for a dozen laps, then from Darling once he started to put pressure in the Wheelock’s NAPA Auto Group Ford. But there was no stopping the Bristol Toyota Scion Camry, and Darling used up only 5 laps to go around Scully Jr. Once up to second, he had his work cut out for him, and Vanasse had already checked out. Little by little, Vanasse’s lead started shrinking. With the lapped traffic around him, he started to run a little more cautiously, allowing things to straighten out ahead of him before making his moved. With 10 laps to go, Darling was within 3 car lengths behind. On lap 32, the first caution of the night came out when Tom Scully Sr. stalled in turn two. (more…)

A full grandstand watched veteran open-wheel stock car driver Ron Proctor take a big step toward his second-straight NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Bond Auto Parts Modified championship on Sugar & Spice Night at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Friday, August 24. Proctor was in the thick of a fierce battle at the front of the 35-lap race when incidental contact between his car and leader Joe Williams broke a suspension part on Williams’ car and forced him to retire at lap. Almost simultaneously, Proctor’s championship rival, Vince Quenneville, Jr., suffered an engine failure while running in third place.
Proctor, of Charlton, NY, ran to the victory for his third win of the year, and opened up his point lead on Quenneville from a slim three points to a more comfortable 28-point cushion, unofficially, with just two races remaining in the championship season. (more…)

Thompson, CT: Thursday Night Thompson Thunder hosted a special 50-lap Super Late Model race with Derek Ramstrom dominating the action by leading every lap on the way to the checkered flag. Todd Ceravolo proved his mastery of restarts when he edged out Ryan Preece for the win in the Sunoco Modified division. Other NASCAR Whelen All-American Series winners included Tommy O’Sullivan, Jesse Gleason, Brian Tagg, Cam McDermott, and Eric Bourgeois.
Todd Ceravolo used restarts to his advantage to take the win in the 30-lap Sunoco Modified feature, and ends a four-race win streak by Ryan Preece. Ceravolo held off a determined Preece on a lap 23 restart to take the lead for the third and final time of the night. Kerry Malone jumped to the early lead, but it was all Preece on the second circuit after he dropped to the bottom and drove to the front coming out of turn two. Ceravolo drove by for second before caution slowed the pace at lap four. In a surprise move, Ceravolo soared by Preece for the lead when the race resumed. Woody Pitkat followed his line for the second position with Preece all over his bumper in third. On lap six, Preece challenged Pitkat in a side-by-side battle. Pitkat had the advantage on the line, but the battle continued until Preece took over the spot in turns three and four of lap eight. Caution tightened the field back up again, and Ceravolo commanded the field once again when racing resumed. Preece rode Ceravolo’s bumper and the duo pulled away from the rest of the field by a full second. By lap 16, Ceravolo had put a little breathing room between himself and Preece, but on lap 19, he drove too high in turn two and allowed Preece to close the distance back up. Caution at lap 23 tightened the field up for a restart that saw Ceravolo choose the outside lane. Ceravolo held off Preece and resumed his position as leader. Preece, Pitkat, and Dennis Perry rounded out the top-four. Ceravolo was dominant out front, and took the checkers unchallenged. (more…)
BRISTOL, Tenn. — Ron Silk took a big step toward getting a chance to defend his NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour championship Wednesday with a win in the UNOH Perfect Storm 150.
Barre, VT – After a tough season, Winooski’s Jerry Lesage vindicated himself in style with a convincing victory in the 50-lap Late Model main event at Barre’s Thunder Road on Sunday, August 19. Lesage had to fend off rising star Cody Blake, as well as three-time “King of the Road” Phil Scott to take his first checkered flag in over seven years.
Pole-sitter Ricky Roberts ran with the lead early, but by lap 23 the familiar #74 of Lesage had pulled to his rear bumper. Lesage flew high to the outside and snatched the lead from Roberts by the halfway mark, and ran from the pack. Roberts was then swarmed by Blake, who took over the second position, as well as Scott, and point-leader Nick Sweet who stacked up two wide behind him. Blake distanced himself from the battle, while Scott methodically worked by Roberts with Sweet taking away fourth in the closing laps. Scott Payea, defending Champion Dave Pembroke, Jamie Aube, last week’s winner Cris Michaud, and Brett Wheeler completed the top ten finishers. (more…)
