Hudson, NH’s Joey Polewarczyk, Jr., shocked reigning American Canadian Tour and Canaan Late Model Champion Wayne Helliwell, Jr., in the closing laps of the ACT 150 at Canaan Fair Speedway on Sunday, June 15, picking up his first ACT victory since October of 2011. Turner, ME’s Glen Luce completed the all-Ford podium.

THE STORY

EAST MONTPELIER, Vt. – Emily Packard of East Montpelier, Vt., returns to ACT Late Model Tour competition with the Canaan 150 at Canaan Fair Speedway in Canaan, N.H., on Saturday, June 15. Packard has made three ACT starts this season, and two weeks ago, she became the first woman to win a NASCAR-sanctioned event at Canaan Fair Speedway when she took the victory in Twin 25s at the track on June 1. This weekend mark’s Packard’s first attempt at qualifying for an ACT Late Model Tour race at her home track, and she’ll do so with the new No. 9x Northstar Fireworks/Berlin Optical Expressions Ford she debuted last weekend in weekly competition. After the Canaan 150, Packard will cap her weekend with a 50-lap Late Model event at Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, Vt., on Sunday, June 16.

ACT Heads to Canaan This Saturday

CanaanWaterbury, VT – The American Canadian Tour Stock Car Championship series will be headed to Canaan Fair Speedway in Canaan, NH for a 150-lap feature this Saturday, June 15. It will be ACT’s first return to the track since 2005.

The fast 1/3-mile has been host to six different winners in the 6 ACT events held there between 1997 and 2005. With a championship battle full of new faces, drivers are excited about the opportunity.

BARRE, Vt. – Emily Packard of East Montpelier, Vt., finished 16th in the WLVB Late Model 50 at Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, Vt., on Sunday, June 9. Packard fought an ill-handling race car throughout the day, and after dialing in the No. 9x Northstar Fireworks/Berlin Optical Expressions Chevrolet more to her liking, the 16-year-old driver fell victim to the track position game on the tight quarter-mile. One night earlier, Packard finished 13th in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series 35-lap Late Model feature at Canaan Fair Speedway in Canaan, N.H. Packard, who one week earlier became the first woman to win a NASCAR-sanctioned Late Model event at the track, debuted a new chassis and Ford engine package after qualifying 15th for the main event.
