Hudson NH – Dick Dubois won the battle but Keith Caruso won the war in the V-6 Modified Division’s season ending race at Hudson International Speedway on Sunday afternoon October 3rd. Caruso won the season long points Championship for the second season in a row. Caruso had a large cushion over second place pointsman Eric Vilandre and just needed to start the feature race to clinch his second consecutive V-6 Mod title.
Vilandre had a much smaller lead over third place pointsman Chris Keubler and needed to borrow a few cars but hung on to second in points by days end. Vilandre’s engine blew up the last time the V-6 Mods raced and borrowed a ride for the last day of racing but that car had axle issues during pace laps before the start of the heat so Vilandre borrowed another car for the feature, this time from Walter Boucher who had just won the heat. Vilandre had more mechanical issues in Boucher’s car when he got loose off turn two, slid through the infield and messed up the transmission ending his day but with enough points to keep Kuebler behind him.

Hudson, NH – With a dominating racecar Jay Maki won his first career Outlaw Sportsman win at Hudson International Speedway on Sunday afternoon September 26th. Maki started on the outside pole and survived getting turned sideways in front of the field after a first lap caution to win. Kevin Kephardt and Ron Bolduc also had podium finishes. Fourth through tenth were Mitch Wendell, Geoff Rollins, Pete “The Travelin’ Man” Fiandaca, Bobby Allen, Ricky Bobby, Keith Dynamite and Tim Casey. Pete Jarek took his old street stock out of mothballs for his first visit to HIS in a decade and came home a respectable 11th out of 23 starters. Maki and Ron Lord Jr. won the heats.
John Morin Jr. won his division leading fifth feature of the 2010 season in the Rookie Stocks. Morin Jr. had the race in hand from early on in the caution-free race. Slika Ennis had his race car “Gertrude” hooked up and running fast and got up to second early on but couldn’t gain ground on Morin Jr. and finished second. Roland Laplante continued his late season surge with his third podium finish in the last three races with a third place finish. Dan Murphy Jr. was all over Leplante the entire race but couldn’t make a pass and settled for fourth. Corrie Merritt dirt-tracked his way to a fifth place finish. Hudson NH –Peter Fiandaca scored a popular win in the Outlaw Sportsman division at Hudson International Speedway on Sunday afternoon Sept. 12th.
Fiandaca started on the outside but slipped back in the opening laps allowing pole sitter Ron Lord Jr. to lead the first few circuits. Tim Casey took a turn leading some laps after passing Lord Jr. Mitch Wendell was next up to lead the race when he passed Casey on a restart after a caution for Jay Maki who was trying to BBQ his carburetor off turn two. The next to lead was Geoff Rollins but his lead lasted about fifty feet as a caution came out for a spinning Wendell and it was determined the Rollins was involved in Wendell’s spin putting both drivers to the rear for a restart. Fiandaca inherited the lead at that point and brought the famed #135 under the checkers in first for the 323rd feature win of his long career. Wendell came back to finish second. Casey was third followed by Rollins, Bobby Allen, Kevin Kephardt, Ricky “Bobby” Woodside, John Meany, Keith “Dynamite” Walton and Lord Jr. Casey and Woodside won the heats.

Hudson NH – Jarrod Soucy had another heartbreak at Hudson Speedway on Monday September 6th. Just as the previous day, Soucy led all the laps of the race except the last two laps. Monday, just like on Sunday, he lost the lead when he chose the wrong way around lapped traffic. Chad Wendell was the beneficiary this time as he had been right behind Soucy for most of the race. Wendell finished first with Soucy in second followed by Justin Beecher, Meegan Lord, Sammy Gilman, Carlos Esquivel, John Daughenbaugh and Nick Fissette.

John Meany and Bobby Allen made up the front row and battled side by side in the opening laps for the lead. After a few cautions in the first half of the race things settled down and stayed green for the second half of the race. The race was for second place after the halfway point as Rollins stretched his lead. Allen and Mitch Wendell battled hard for second place, making contact a few times but Allen held on for second and Wendell finished third. Hudson NH – John Morin Jr. won the “Mighty”Mike Lewis Memorial race on Sunday evening August 29th at Hudson International Speedway. Lewis was a longtime Hudson/Star competitor who tragically lost his life in a garage accident while prepping his Street Stock for racing at Star in 1998. While he was a warm and caring individual off the track, on the track he had a “take no prisoners” style that many times put him and his cars, usually numbered with the Dale Earnhardt copyrighted #3, in victory lane. Lewis was the 1992 Strictly Stock Champion at Hudson, which was an epic season-long clash with Dean Weber, remembered by longtime speedway fans as one of best ever.
