RESULTS FOR FRIDAY, JULY 18, 2014 FOR LEE USA SPEEDWAY

LEE USALee, NH – Lee USA Speedway hosted the annual El Camino Night on Friday night, with some 40 local members of the National El Camino Owners Association (NECOA) cruising the oval after the completion of qualifying for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions.

This year’s El Camino Night featured representatives of every decade of El Camino, with dozens of restored vehicles representing the various generations, ranging from one of the original 22,246 built in 1959, a few of ‘60’s vintage, a handful of ‘70’s models, and several from the 1980’s taking part in the exhibition.  The crowd cheered in appreciation as the El Caminos toured the track and participated in a burnout competition.

During the night’s feature racing action, the parity among teams in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series, EKeys 4Cars Supermodifieds was displayed once again when rookie Kyle Saywer of nearby Kingston outran the competition to become the seventh winner in seven races this season. (more…)

Walpole, NH- The famed Lee USA Speedway will host the Granite State Pro Stock Series for the first time ever on Friday, July 25th.

The 3/8 mile, semi-banked oval has always been a favorite with racers, and now the Granite State Pro Stock Series will be a part of the track’s storied history. The usual suspects have already entered the Seacoast 100, including Derek Griffith, Matt Frahm, Larry Gelinas, the O’Sullivan brothers, Barry Gray, Dillon Moltz, and Brad Babb, and are joined by drivers like George Helliwell, Bobby Cabral, Babe Branscombe, and Joey Squeglia. Squeglia had set fast time in practice at the Star 100 at Star Speedway just a few weeks ago, but suffered bad luck in the feature, leaving the Derry, NH driver without the results he deserved.

Savary First To Repeat With Lee VMRS Win

Lee, N.H. – Richard Savary used a different approach Friday night breaking away from the norm. He charged to the front from his 11th starting position, challenged early front runners Tom Carey Jr., and Todd Szegedy, to take the lead on lap 55 and go to win the Valenti Modified Racing Series sanctioned ‘Port City 100’ at Lee USA Speedway, Friday night, June 27.

The win was the Canton, Massachusetts., drivers second this season and his third career VMRS victory.

Instead of doing what most drivers do when competing at Lee, hang back and save their tires for the second half of the race, Savary changed his strategy and ran hard early on to put himself in contention for the lead.

“This is the first time here for all of us with this new right rear tire so nobody knew what it was really going to do. I took a page out of the Steve Masse book. He seems to get to the front and try to hang there. I thought I’d give that a try tonight. Late in the race we had good clean restarts. Hard racing. I think if the 21 (Bonsignore) was in front of me I would have had my hands full but I’m glad it was someone like him driving the car behind me.”
