OKTOBERFEST WEEKEND AT LEE USA SPEEDWAY, OCT 19th THRU 21st

Oktoberfest, Lee USA Speedway’s traditional season ending weekend racing bash, will commence on October 19th through the 21st. Over 300 cars from all over the northeast are expected to compete in the 12 divisions of race cars that will be featured. Last year seven states and several Canadian provinces were represented, the farthest coming from Nova Scotia. This year, three series championships will be decided, and for the rest, bragging rights throughout the winter will be on the line. Everyone wants to win their Oktoberfest feature event.

More importantly however, Oktoberfest is about fun for all. A full itinerary of social events will complement the non-stop racing action throughout the weekend. A Friday night Beer Bash will follow practice for all divisions from 3PM to 7PM. Breakfast will be offered on both Saturday and Sunday mornings. Also, on Friday and Saturday nights, there will be hay rides for kids big and small. Then after Saturday’s heat race action, another Lee USA Oktoberfest tradition, the Spaghetti Supper with a DJ and dancing until late into the night. Fan and competitor commradery will be the weekend’s theme.

Mason Scores Second NEMST Victory Of 2012

Drivers from six New England states converged on Lee USA Speedway in Lee, NH for the Texas Roadhouse North East Mini Stock Tour’s make-up event that was scheduled after the original Juy 27th date was called off due to weather. Skies were sunny and the air was humid as 20 NEMST cars rolled into the pit area of the fast 3/8 mile oval.
Road course winner Mike Mason has taken a small hiatus from NEMST competition but returned with a vengeance at Lee laying down the fastest lap times through practice and winning his heat from the outside pole position. Other notable drivers include former Lee champion Loren Smith, NEMST point leader Danny Field, and multi-time Lee winner Emerson Cayer.
September 7th marked Championship Night at Lee where all regular divisions would crown their season victors. 7:15 marked the start of events with 2 NEMST heats. The heats started with a bang as a fast moving Calvin Rose was shuffling to the front on the first lap as Nic Skillings got loose. Both cars careened into the turn four retaining wall bouncing across the track and coming to a stop on the infield. The red flag was displayed as drivers were checked on by NEMST and Lee USA officials. Both cars would be finished for the night due to the extensive damage. After the clean-up pole sitter Billy Osborne paced the field for the duration of the event taking home the heat win, his second in as many races.

Veteran Race Car Builder, Jim Belfiore named Grand Marshall of the Ollie Silva Memorial Super Modified Classic

Legendary car builder Jim Belfiore has been chosen as Grand Marshall for this Friday night’s Annual 75 lap Ollie Silva Memorial Summer Classic at the Lee USA Speedway presented by Haffner’s Gasoline and Fuels, “It Kicks.” Belfiore , who considered Ollie Silva as a personal friend, describes his selection as “A great honor.”

Born and raised in Haverhill, MA, Jim Belfiore was a participant during the early days of super modified racing both as an owner and a driver, and was a charter member of New England Super Modified Association organization. He also earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering at U Mass Lowell. Career opportunities took him to San Jose, CA where he resided for several years. He attained a Master’s Degree in California, and it was in the Golden State where his enthusiasm for super modified racing was rekindled.

LEE USA SPEEDWAY RESULTS FOR MAY 11th

LEE USALee USA Speedway opened up the 2012 season on Friday night, with second-generation racer Mike Ordway, Jr. of Fremont taking down the checkered flag in the Benson Lumber and Hardware-sponsored Small Block Supermodified feature event.

Defending NASCAR Whelen All-American Series champion Wayne Helliwell, Jr. and Mike Netishen took down the checkers with strong runs in the two Small Block Super qualifying heats, but at feature time, it was Ordway in control from start to finish.

Seventh Place Run for Eddie MacDonald in Governors Cup 150 at Lee USA Speedway

ACT American Canadian TourThe 2012 ACT Tour season opened with its traditional Governors Cup 150 at Lee USA Speedway with hometown driver Eddie MacDonald surviving a spin while leading to finish seventh.

The Hancock Electric/Grimm Construction Chevy started twelfth in the 27 car field by virtue of winning the heat race from the outside pole to post a +1. Cars are placed on the grid using the plus/minus system used in the ACT Tour.

The Rowley, Mass. driver was at the wheel of a brand new car and was pleased with the results saying, “The car was very fast and drove great. It had a few quirks to it but that is to be expected with a new car. Overall though, we are really happy with the way it drove. Even after the spin, the car was still fast and we were able to make it back through the field twice.”
