Sanborn Grabs Elusive First PASS North Series Victory
Richard Moody Racing driver wins Summerfest 150 at Riverside Speedway

GROVETON, N.H. — Trevor Sanborn passed Richard Moody Racing teammate Travis Benjamin on lap 82 and never looked back, winning the PASS North Series Summerfest 150 at Riverside Speedway on Saturday night. The win was the first career PASS North victory for Sanborn, a two-time PASS South Series race winner.

“What an unbelievable feeling,” Sanborn said after leading a race-high 69 laps. “I’ve run a ton of races up here (in the North), I’ve led a lot of laps. I’ve always liked Riverside… and I’m just so glad I finally won.”

ACT ANNOUNCES FINAL LIST FOR NHMS INVITATIONAL

Waterbury, VT – The American Canadian Tour (ACT) announced today another list of potential race teams that may be invited to compete in the second annual ACT Invitational at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway over the opening weekend for the NASCAR Chase weekend on September 17-19, 2010.

Two full days of practice at NHMS will be divided between over 70 invited attendees. With just eight (8) teams guaranteed spots in the expanded field of 43 starters, the test sessions will go a long way in deciding who will get the ‘at large’ invitations to what has become one of the most anticipated events of the year for short track fans and teams in the Northeast and eastern Canada.

Brent Dragon of Milton, Vt., joins the rest of the ACT Late Model Tour when he heads to the Twin State 100 at Twin State Speedway in Claremont, N.H., on Friday, July 30. Dragon, whose 181 career ACT Late Model Tour starts rank first all-time, is the defending champion of the event. At the midway point of the season, Dragon is second in the ACT standings, just 111 points behind multi-time champion Brian Hoar with several tracks where he owns victories soon to appear on the schedule. Dragon was running in the top-5 last weekend at Beech Ridge just past the halfway mark before being caught in another competitor’s accident — but the No. 55 team rallied through a pit stop to repair damage and ended up in eighth place by night’s end.

Todd Petschke and Matt Morrill Break Through at Big Daddy’s Speedbowl

Mid-State Trucking Modified driver Todd Petschke (09) finally put together a second half to a race that matched his first half. He led from Green to Checkers and took home the big Ed Tobin Car Crushing trophy for Sunday, July 25. It was a wild Modified feature with lots of bumping and banging that will have a number of drivers doing repairs for next week. Trever Rocke (63) survived to finish second, with Chad Turck (56) taking third.

Chief Starter and track Educational Director Ray Moses said that the word of the week was “Disappointment,” and this was something felt by a good many drivers this Sunday afternoon. One was James Capps of the Mods, whose #64 was running near the front much of the feature, but was involved in a wreck late in the race.

Hudson Race Report for July 25th

Hudson NH –Jerry Lepage scored his first career win in the Rookie Stocks on Sunday evening July 25th at Hudson International Speedway. Lepage started on the pole and led every lap of the race. Past the halfway point of the race Keith “Slika” Ennis was running second and looked like he going to be able to mount a challenge to Lepage but tangled with Andy Nichols on a restart and both cars spun out of contention for the day. Lepage held on from there to become the eighth different winner in twelve Rookie Stocks mains this year. Second through tenth were Billy Clement Jr., Dan Murphy Jr., Dean Wendell, Bill Helliwell, Ennis, Corrie Merritt, Larry Fortin, John Morin Jr. and Nichols. Murphy and Clement were the heat winners.

Winchester, NH: Fans once again got their money’s worth when the high-bank racers would put on a show to remember. Hot temperatures from the sun and humidity would not stop fans from coming to watch their local favorites. Cub Scout pack #33 from Jaffrey New Hampshire would proudly display our countries colors as Donna Dutton sang our National Anthem.

The young guns stepped up and racers were doubled up to take the green. The caution would wave on lap 9 sending JT Cloutier into the pits with right front damage. When the checkered flag flew it was a Adam Manley victorious over Joe Boivin, last week’s winner, and Cordell Colon.
