Loudon, NH (July 2013) – Ryan Newman has a lot of racing scheduled for this weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon as he attempts to do the double, driving WIX Filters-sponsored entries in both the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and Whelen Modified Tour races.
Newman is scheduled to run the Modified race Saturday before returning to his regular driving duties Sunday behind the wheel of Stewart-Haas Racing’s (SHR) No. 39 Chevrolet SS.
For Newman, running the Modified race offers him a chance to have a little fun and a release from the stress of his day job, where he is currently fighting to race his way into position to claim a coveted spot in the 12-driver Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship.
This weekend’s race couldn’t come at a better time for Newman. Given his track record at the “The Magic Mile,” he and his No. 39 team expect to score a strong finish, if not contend for the win, in Sunday’s 301-miler.

WINCHESTER, NH – Tim Leblanc and Scott Thompson each scored their first win Saturday, July 6, at Monadnock Speedway. Super Stock veteran Dana Shepard, winless the last five-plus seasons, thrilled the huge crowd with a memorable victory.
But it was Modified icon Dwight Jarvis who earned the big bucks with a shrewd race strategy that landed him in victory lane after winning the night’s 100-lap Valenti Modified Racing Series main event.
Other winners on the Firecracker 100 card included Adam Norton, victorious in the Sportsman Modified feature, Mini Stock points leader Chris McTaggart, who won his first feature since April, and Young Guns hot shoe Joe Collins, who earned his third victory lap of the summer.

Epping, NH – Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. of Hudson, NH became just the third driver to win three American Canadian Tour Late Model point counting events in a row with his victory at Star Speedway on Saturday, July 6. Polewarczyk joins Ben Rowe (2006) and Gary Caron (1995) as the only three straight ACT Late Model winners.
Polewarczyk and fellow New Hampshire native Wayne Helliwell, Jr. put on a show for their hometown fans for the majority of the event. Helliwell took over the lead on lap 53 and just over 10 laps later Polewarczyk arrived at his back bumper from his 9th starting position. Over the next 70 laps, the duo held the top two spots as they battled for the win. Helliwell protected the outside groove and kept the momentum off the corners as Polewarczyk fought for every inch on the inside. Polewarczyk caught the break he needed as the final caution flag flew on lap 135.
